Bounty alternative (Destiny)

Bounties can get exhausting after months and months, but XP.

Alternative: bounties that accumulate value over time and, as long as you don't duck them up, can eventually be turned in for a huge XP reward.

Imagine this like a twist on the 'Earn 9000 XP without dying' bounty. Except it never ends. Every kill you make increases the XP value of the bounty. If you can keep it going for a week or so, you could upgrade a weapon from scratch when you finally turn in that one bounty. But if you die after 4 days.. whoops. All that potential XP you accumulated is lost.

Risk vs. Reward. Don't need to upgrade something right now? Keep holding onto it and when you have that new weapon, you'll have it upgraded in no time at all. But you had better stay alive to keep it building.

Thoughts?

Maybe instead of something that brutal, it could work like an osiris passage? You hit benchmarks like 10k exp, then 50k exp, then 100k? If you die at 99k, you fall back to 50k, so you still have something?

I'm just speakin up for the sake of the victims of controller abuse. No controller deserves to be whipped into the floor like a fastball.

That's a good idea. I would guess it could top out at enough to fully level and entire subclass. I hope Bungie steals it.

Sounds like a good idea to me. nothing like having to grind and grind for new gear.

I want a consumable that you can use for the crucible/iron banner to get glimmer from kills. The better the kill the more glimmer.

I like it. I certainly would like some checkpoint values so I don't lose tens of thousands of points because I got stuck on a rock, but yeah, this could be a lot of fun. I think the trick would be to come up with creative actions to count and to tie it into the lore and perhaps even the gameplay.

Things to count:

- Total Kills (duh)
- Kills sorted by type (melee, different weapon classes, environmental, damage type, vehicle, vehicle impact, etc)
- Total Patrol mission completed.
- Patrol missions completed (sorted by mission types)
- Total Bounties completed
- Bounties completed (sorted by type)
- All sorts of Crucible stuff

Going a bit further (and stealing a bit from Mass Effect 3) it would be cool if I could get a seldom seen Legendary emblem or class item if I put enough points into the long term Kill Enemies with Environmental Damage bounty or if I racked up enough of those win in the last few seconds Crucible medals or whatever.

I'm tired of bounties

I'm finishing the new Petra bounties, but I barely touch the old bounty board anymore. The Petra bounties, occasional dailies, swapping new favorite guns between characters... my favorite new precious-es pretty fast. Are you guys still grinding out 5-10 bounties a day?

Tip: You also get a little experience at the end of each prison of elders round. I'm not sure how much, but it was enough to fill up the last sliver I needed to unlock a helmet perk last night.

Depends what they are. If the bounties are goals I can complete while doing the activities I wanted to play, then I'll grab them. The only bounties I'm going out of my way for are Petra's bounties, at least until I get bored of them.

I just found this checklist the other day. I'm not going to check off most of them, but it's easier to glance at this list than checking out the advisor in the app.

Queen's Bounties

So I hit rank 3 with the queen last night after doing this week's bounties. To my surprise, the queen's package contained a Payment VI legendary pulse rifle and "Paladin's Blazon" emblem in addition to the couple motes and coins. I wonder if it's rank 3 that affords these, patch changes, or me being generally lucky this time.

Regardless, that's my first queen's package that I've ever gotten anything of note in.

I hit rank 3 with 2 characters yesterday, and got a legendary weapon both times. Seems to be the expected drop.

Yeah, I got the emblem and the same rocket launcher I got from the big chest, moments before.

Agree, that's exactly how I look at it.

I grab a ton of Crucible bounties because I play a ton of crucible, I ignore most vanguard and patrol bounties. I have been grabbing queen's bounties because she has thingys that I need/want and I grab IB bounties to rank up.

I don't see the sense in doing bounties that you don't like and making yourself bored or miserable running things that aren't fun for you.
