PoE 35 could use checkpoints (Destiny)

Has anyone been saved by the "auto reconnect" feature PoE supposedly has? I was sent to orbit during a LFG PoE and nothing. I was able to rejoin when they invited me back, but there wasn't even an attempt by Destiny to get me back into the game automatically.

That feature only exists in ToO.
