Matador 64 or Felwinter's Lie?
On top of that, which one do you prefer using? Maybe neither? If neither, what's your main shotgun? I've primarily used Found Verdict, but I've been giving Felwinter's Lie and Matador 64 a go recently. I miss the full auto firing abilities of my Found Verdict, but Matador 64 and Felwinter's Lie seem to have ridiculous range if I'm zooming in. I also have a Party Crasher, but I haven't played with it yet.

Matador, hands down.

Don't have one, but all its stats exceed or meet Felwinter's.

Oh, wow

Matador FTW, I guess.
Still keeping my Secret Handshake for the Abyss, but Judgment is out the window as soon as I get a Matador.
Because apparently Bungie don't understand their own rules

Impact being directly proportionate to RoF
by someotherguy, Hertfordshire, England, Monday, June 08, 2015, 00:07 (3697 days ago) @ Avateur
DpS within a class of weapons has always been uniform because as Impact increases, RoF goes down. Matador and Party Crasher don't follow this.

These shotguns are the only ones
by someotherguy, Hertfordshire, England, Monday, June 08, 2015, 00:48 (3697 days ago) @ ZackDark
Besides which, why would they want to make break that particular rule? Consistent DpS is what gives the game so much variety. Without it there will be a "best" weapon and noone will want to use anything else. See Gjallarhorn for example.

Well, there ARE two of them... :p

Also, you don't need that much impact in PvP to kill someone, so might as well go for some RoF in case you miss the first shot.
That's what lower Impact shotguns are for

DPS is kind of meaningless for shotguns
by electricpirate , Monday, June 08, 2015, 01:02 (3697 days ago) @ someotherguy
I mean, in PVP shotguns are a one and done thing. Generally if you miss your shot you're dead, so ROF doesn't make a lick of difference.
In PVE, It's more important, but I still find it pretty rare that I'm going to stand and deliver with a shotty at max DPS. it's generally a game of cat and mouse.
Cat and mouse? Stand and shoot until one of you is dead :p

How does the queen's shotty stand up?
by iconicbanana, C2-H5-OH + NAD, Portland, OR, Monday, June 08, 2015, 02:17 (3697 days ago) @ CyberKN
I have one with rifled(?) barrel and shot package, and it's pretty stupid.
Buuuuuuut.......

Old Felwinter's could get Hammer Forged on them which adds a huge amount of range. As shotguns can no longer get that perk, I think old Felwinter's will be able to beat them in the range department.

Curious about this as well.

I had two Felwinter's Lie drop during iron banner this week, I already have one with hammer forged and shot package. I also had the queens shotgun drop along with a few other shotguns, I'm really curious as to what is the best and why. My current FL has stupid range and makes me feel like a bad human when I go invis blink shotgun on people.
Curious about this as well.

If you get a matador drop see if you can get enough range perks to make it as good or better than that Hammer Forged Felwinter. I'm curious to see if it can be beat.

Curious about this as well.

From what I have read across a few reddit threads. All three (Felwinter, Matador, and Party Crasher) can max out their range stat with the right perks. So it seems to come down to personal preference for a lot of people.
From what I have read some people tend to like the party crasher because it has a higher rate of fire than the matador and the extra impact from the matador typically doesn't make a huge difference. So if you happen to not one shot them you can follow up quicker with the crasher.
It doesn't seem like you can go wrong with any of those weapons though and just choose one that you are most comfortable using.
I just got a matador myself and am looking forward to trying it out once I try rerolling it to see if I can get the perks I want.
Curious about this as well.

There is a maximum range stat? Do you know the number? The Matador has a higher base range than the Felwinter . . . so if there is a max then that may mean the Matador is better because you can focus perks on other things than range and still get the "max" that you are talking about.

Curious about this as well.

I've been curious about that as well but haven't been able to find any specific numbers on the threads I have been reading. I get the impression that people compare the numbers on Bnet when using the different perks and once range reaches a certain number it doesn't increase any more, but I don't have a shotgun built that way to confirm (yet).

Exactly this. I've read that for the Matador people use the aggressive ballistics even though it decreases range by 5 because it doesn't make a difference so you gain the increased impact without one of the negatives build into that upgrade.
Edit: Some further research lead me to a post on reddit that has this info:
Weapon statistics range from 1-100. If you see a positive number the stat is increased by that amount, and a negative number decreases it. A percent modifier, as expected, increases or decreases it by a set percent. It seems like percent modifiers can raise the statistic over 100 while a numerical stat increase cannot.

The post is from 8 months ago so that info may have changed, but I guess that is where the max on a stat comes from at least. I'm planning on rolling my matador at some point soon. If I end up with the right set of perks I'll be able to test this and confirm (unless someone else has a matador with a few range perks and doesn't mind switching the upgrades around to see what happens).

.....or i just suck with shotguns.
mine has shot package, reinforced barrel, and kneepads
I did pick up a Party Crasher last night, gonna level it up and give it a try. It has full auto, rifled barrel, and rodeo. After i upgrade it, the impact will be almost the same as matador, with twice the stability, and a higher ROF.

;_; These are both multiplayer only.
