An old friend returns... (Destiny)
For the first time, I had an etheric light drop from a nightfall strike this week. After some quick mental math, I realized that even with running PoE, I wasn't realistically going to get a second character to 34 this week. Hence, I might as well ascend an old 300 weapon for fun, right? Right.
Most people probably would have ascended Fatebringer, or VoC, or something along those lines. And they'd be sensible to do so. But I'm not playing to be sensible, I'm playing to have fun! And I have a particular attachment to a different weapon, one I haven't used for a long time:
Hello, old friend. We will asplode so many skulls together.

My TDYK might just be the next weapon I ascend too :) <3 it

I think Slycrel ascended his already, and was loving it :)

this, swarm, and zombie apocalypse are the only 3 weapons I never got that i wanted (and can get, stupid PS exclusives). Soooo jelly right now.

So you just never bought them? They were for sale, man!

I never bought TDYK and it still haunts me at night.

I didn't have the monies back then. I only ran 1 character. It wasn't until like 2 weeks before TDB that I made my titan and hunter. When they announced shit would be changing! I had to make choices, they were dark times.

Just get a Fulcrum with rifled barrel
Only 8 shots, but otherwise the stats are the same.

An old friend returns...
Returns? I still use mine regularly, especially in crucible. I even used it a bunch in the IB last month. It's no Hawkmoon, but it holds me over until then. Plus I love feeling old school when I use it.

An old friend returns...
Totally upgraded mine for IB :) Not as good as an exotic primary, but very deadly, and it let me use my Queenbreaker's Bow.

Or Loner.Rebel.
Virtually identical stability and more range. Pull some reload perks.

Very cool. Is that a crucible weapon?

Random drops. Got mine as a 28 PoE reward.

Heh, handcannons
I'm still very bitter about sharding my A1.lettersoup...

Thanks! I'll keep my eyes open for it.

The A1.alphabetsoup.
I never got one. I wish I had. I know it was one of the first weapons Slycrel ascended, maybe even the first. He loves it!

So you just never bought them? They were for sale, man!
I bought the vendor version, but got this one as a random drop later, and I liked the perks a little better.

I think this is the only legacy gun I still have.

An old friend returns...
Yeah, I know attack changes don't make weapons useless, but it just bothered me that it wasn't going to perform as well as before.
Not anymore, though. I ran a level 32 HoW story mission after ascending it last night, and it tore them apart. It wasn't even like it did "pretty well." It was a massacre.

The Vanguard one was amazing
I don't even remember the perks, tbh, but simply Firefly was a beast with it.
Have one!
The aim assist is insane. SO good.

An old friend returns... The Shadow Price
My 365 Shadow Price is a beast in all game modes. I'm so glad Etheric Light made it effective again.

Still hanging on to Lord High Fixer

An old friend returns... The Shadow Price
Funny you should say that. Shadow Price is the other old weapon I've been saving for ascension. It'll be coming out to play soon.

So you just never bought them? They were for sale, man!

Probably the best legendary non elemental hand cannon, for both PvE and PvP. At least in my opinion. Some of the newer ones do specific things better, but this is wonderful overall.

Nope
The perks on the vendor Devil you know, including send it, are what make it great. You cannot match those stats with the tradeoff perks of today. You cannot get range without giving up stability or reload. You cannot get 12 shots and still match the stats. It's close, but not in the same class.
Devil You Know is great because:
1. It has 12 shots.
2. It has insane range with send it.
3. High stability plus Zen Moment and crowd control.
More than any other hand cannon, you can tear through mobs in PvE by landing critical after critical. In PvP, it is similarly very good at long range. More stable than a send it Thorn, and as much range.

Just get a Fulcrum with rifled barrel
Only 8 shots, but otherwise the stats are the same.
The stats aren't the same when you pick your perks though, and that is the crucial difference.

So you just never bought them? They were for sale, man!
Now I'm thinking this may actually be the vendor version? Whatever, either way it's the king.

Truth!

True, my first etheric light was spent on this...
I didn't have the vendor one. This was possibly my first ever Legendary weapon drop from vanguard lvl 3. I got Red Dot OAS sight, final round, iridium rounds, explosive rounds, and outlaw. It doesn't have firefly, but that's what fatebringer is for afterall. ;) Outlaw is great with it, a fantastic perk for scout rifles in general. Final round is great for those clip-emptying fights. I still do very well in the vault with this gun, it's a great fit.
Gheleon's demise is basically the same stats as the A.1F, so if you miss it, hit crucible for one. Though you won't be able to quite get the same rolls, some of the new perks would be good with it as well. Mixed bag I guess.

I'll keep my eye out for it
It's been a long time since I've last used a scout other than VoC, but I remember loving A1.alphabetsoup so much...
I wish I hadn't sharded it. :(

My first legendary
Spray and Play
Counterbalance / Field Scout
Third Eye
I've loved this gun for the entire time I've had it. Fatebringer replaced it as my go to, but I could never shard it.

Sorry, misled you a little -- Iron Banner!

Oh, I know. ;) But thanks for the heads-up on its stats! :)

An old friend returns... The Shadow Price
I've been having loads of fun running Shadow Price + Secret handshake + Thunderlord in crucible. Works great as both gunslinger and blade dancer (which I hot swap depending on the size of the level).
