I feel the pain... (Destiny)
Literally everything we do is wrong. Rush? Die. Flank? Die. Turtle? Double die.
Do you find yourself winning any of the rounds? What would you say your record is overall?
We really felt hapless early on, I think we were playing into the hand of the other team, and I wasn't playing to my strengths. I was trying to take pot shots through the door (which does not work for me), standing in weak positions, and using a gun I thought would work because it was OP (Thorn).
I noticed a huge swing when I decided to find the spot on the map I was most comfortable and capable of occupying (in this case, the high bridge). I didn't chase the opponent to their position of strength (which is what I had been doing, or at least fighting them in their position of strength. Part of it being in a place where my skill set works, part of it was finding an advantageous spot to deny the other team what they wanted (generally the middle room). I just went for the High Bridge, not very thoughtfully, but it really worked well.
What would you say your skillset is? Close quarters? Mid Range HC master? Scout Rifling from cover? Final Round Sniper Pro? :)
Another huge swing came from me using The Last Word over Thorn. This changed two things. First, I had to be closer to the enemy, and second I had to worry more about shotguns. Funny thing is... I didn't fire a single round of my shotgun in our 9-0 run. I would draw guys out (near shotgun ranges), and rapidly hip fire with TLW before they could shotgun me. Often I could come out of this undamaged because I was close enough to hip fire, but far enough to be in the shotgun drop off zone... Even for Felwinters. People were so shotgun ready they often took the bait. And if they didn't they generally had Red Death or Thorn, which has no hope vs. TLW at the range I was playing to. If it was me vs. TLW, I generally won as well because they were coming to me. Although that seemed to be the weapon most likely to kill me, because I was trying to position guys to get in the range where TLW is optimal (thereby giving those guys my same advantage, having to finally rely on actual skill).
What weapons are you best with? What are their optimal situations? Can you find a place on the map where you can get set up in those situations?
One last thought... I spent waaaay too much time in the early goings trying to out Shotgun guys, it is just too unreliable, with a lot of 1v1 unhelpful trades. Being inside with anything but a shotgun is also risky. I started to only stand in open areas by the end. My shotgun K/D was probably like .75 or less. My last word K/D was probably 1.5 or higher, so my value to my team doubled when I switched.
Just some personal observations that are hopefully helpful.
