You clearly missed the new controller has different bumpers.

by Funkmon @, Tuesday, June 16, 2015, 11:41 (3455 days ago) @ Korny

And not even just the $150 one either, the cheap one. It has bumpers you like, where you push at any point.

Anyone else have bad Xbox One controllers?

by DreadPirateWes, Tuesday, June 16, 2015, 11:54 (3455 days ago) @ Funkmon

This controller is competing with the Scuf. The Scuf looks like a cool product and seems to be selling well at $120 and up. The Xbox controller looks comparable.

Anyone else have bad Xbox one controllers? My first has audio problems when using the adapter, my replacement (non-warranty) has now developed terrible drift. I just ordered another and am going to throw the first two in the trash. How long has this console been out? Is this a sign I'm playing way too many games???

I'm sure some people will like it. Not for me, though.

As for my Xbox controllers, my 360 controllers have never broken, and they're launch units. No drift, they work fine.

Xbox One controller also works fine, but I haven't even had it a year yet. That said, I think Mig's has drift, and Narcogen's has drift too. I'm hearing quite a few reports on failures with that drift thing, but none on audio.

I bought myself and each of my kids a different colored XB1 controller because I was tired of them tearing up my favorite 360 controllers. I figured they would then leave mine alone and it would stay pristine. Within a couple of months mine developed a bad up/down drift, so I steal Lil'Blue's controller and use it all the time now.

This thing is ridiculously priced, $150!

Umm...yeah, NO. Sure, I expected it to be more than the standard controller, but not TWO AND A HALF TIMES more! Maybe I could stomach $80, but that would be my limit.

Avatar

Yeah, you could get a scuf for that price.

Yes, I have the issue.

I have two launch day (one actual launch day - with the neat 'launch day' graphic on it -the other just a few days later) controllers… both drift horrible on the right stick. Googling it, turns out to be a common problem with the controller. And there's a robust after-market of the axis switches on ebay. I bought a pack of 5 switches, and one day when I have a free afternoon, plan to disassemble my controllers and deal w/ the desoldering/resoldering process. I'm older and need optical help now when it comes to this tiny type of surgery. :-(

We have four controllers. two are perfect in every way. One clicks when pushing the left stick to the left and then back to center, but you can't feel it and it doesn't affect gameplay. It's just annoying. The last one has a sloppy right stick. There is about 1/4" movement from dead center to any direction before you can feel it actual begin to move the POT's/whatever electronic device they are using to measure input. Also that stick can be pulled up from its base slightly. The may have been cause by us dropping it, but I dropped alot of 360 controllers and never broke one.

As far a drift goes, almost all of my 360 controllers developed minor drift at some point. It seemed to be more noticeable in certain games than others.

No, not those. These.

These are from harborfreight and probably pretty cheap. They'll help you see and hold the board while you solder.

it's still a chore though. ;-)

Actually, the shape of the controller doesn't make it very easy to use with those type of clamp helpers… but I do have the giant magnifiers and the strong lighting.

I don't know what to tell you, man. I got an XBone on launch day and do almost nothing BUT play video games in my spare time, and mine still works fine. There's definitely some flex in the casing due to squeezing it too hard during Forza, but all the buttons and sticks are still fine.

Can't unsee the oonsk on the controller now :(

And when I say slowly, I mean that, in Destiny and ONLY Destiny, I turn at 50% speed to the right. It's goddamn annoying.
