Acquiring third sublcass?

Hunter: Venus (? certainly around the Vex)
Warlock: Mars (or is that the Cosmodrome? I recognize, but can't place the logo on the building behind him).
Titan: Mercury

Do we unlock these by completing specific missions or something? How cool would that be, a little quest or story about unlocking your new subclass?

Sounds really cool. Discovering some long-forgotten cache of knowledge, or seeking out some secretive outcast Guardian who "knows things," and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if there are subsequent training missions designed to show off the new abilities.

I think those separate scenes were just for trailer purposes, in other words they looked cool, I doubt they were unlocks at specific game locations.

Though I do think it's possible we have to play a story mission to get the third character class, it would probably be the same mission for all three. Most likely though we'll just log on and have the third class we could switch to and start unlocking perks for, just like the other sub-classes.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were immediately unlocked, or at least unlocked when you complete the story. I'm not yet convinced we will have a story mission set surrounding this, but I could see a questline from the cryptarch to unlock lost knowledge or somesuch.

Yeah, I was expecting the new subclass to just be available, but then I remembered that you didn't get access to the 2nd until after you had a character reach level 15. Couple that with the scenes of the classes acquiring the subclass & it made me wonder. I'd bet it'll unlock on completion of the story missions; I HOPE it's a quest tho'.

Just watched the new ViDoc which pretty much confirms we'll have to do quests to get our new awesome powers.

It will invest it as a bit more meaningful too. Hopefully you don't have to spend tons of time unlocking all the abilities. I'm not holding my breath, but a new subclass is useless until you have at least unlocked the basic jump, grenade, super, and melee abilities.
