I can't tell if I like the new Taken enemy concept or not (Destiny)
On the one hand, it feels sort of like a cheap (though oft used) dynamic to reuse old models. It's also moderately cheesy from a sci-fi sense in that it feels like zombies.
On the other hand, we're talking about a power that can convert a vex. what the ever living @#$% are we up against. Not only that, it's not a power that we're familiar with. It's not a Vex power, it's not a fallen or Traveler power. In fact in the opening scene the Cabal of all races are running from it.
I think I like it because it really opens Destiny up in a fantasy way akin to the world of Tolkien. In that world there were powers that did not have sides, whose strengths and power were not understood, and rarely shown. But they existed, and you could bump into them.
Here we are in what is feeling more and more like our corner of the universe. I started playing Destiny thinking that, because of the traveler and Darkness that WE were the center of the universe. Yet, we're actually just the playground for the song of Oryx? And when we send him back to the abyss Daddy somes in, bitch slaps the cabal, and decides to take revenge on the Guardians directly by subverting the Vex like it aint no thang?
As long as Bungie plays this out (and given the Grimoire, I have hope they can) this could turn into a really REALLY great universe given a few more years.
Final thought:
We as Guardians have had powers that we don't understand since the beginning. It's about time we faced an enemy with powers we don't understand.

Diablo 2 palette-switching.

Hell, Mortal Kombat palette-switching

It's basically the Mass Effect "Reaper" faction...
I love it. Especially the jittering.

I approve, as well
Was expecting green, instead of blue, though.
Design wise I love it.

I think it's pretty good for...
..."how can we make the enemies feel as fresh as possible without expending all our manpower budget in a DLC add-on instead of Destiny 2."
I wasn't expecting new enemy behaviors at all so I'm excited for it. This one element could seriously make the biggest impact on the experience.

That's the big thing. That divide and duplicate thing is pretty damn creepy. Also, infected Oracles? Yikes!
I was thinking Double Dragon.

I didn't even notice the Oracles... That is good news.
It seems to me that this gives Bungie some great options to really throw the guantlet at players... A Raid with every enemy in the game available? Sounds great to me!

Some of the enemy projectiles look new too. *GIFV*

Hard to say for sure, but if you right click to show controls on that gifv, and then pause it on the hydra frames, you see these bizarre blue projectiles that look like they track toward the guardian. Anybody have an idea if we've seen those before?

I'm pretty sure those burning blue projectiles (coming from the guy just below the Hydra) are new. Also, there's a frame or two of a Phalanx shooting a (void?) energy burst from his shield. Yeah, I'm going to hate those guys.

Yeah I noticed that, it's also pretty obvious that even the enemies firing their normal projectiles are firing them with different elements.

They could be Taken versions of cabal missiles. There are three of them and they are all arcing exactly the same. More like mortar fire than seekers.

It really looks like they all come from the same source, at the same time; cabal rockets have staggered, rapid fire, rather than simultaneous. I thought they might be like a minotaur cannon, but its motion is all wrong. Definitely similar, but I'm pretty sure they're new.

Also, I remember noticing an enemy that wasn't Fallen, I think it was cabal, shooting a massive two handed cannon that was very much a fallen weapon from the looks of it. It was very stone looking and diamond angled. So yeah, seeing non-fallen enemies using fallen tech is going to be interesting.

They move like the bolts Hive Shriekers fire by the look of it to me.
