Collector's edition exotics (Destiny)

by Cody Miller @, Music of the Spheres - Never Forgot, Thursday, June 18, 2015, 21:14 (3685 days ago)

Can someone clarify:

The collector's edition says you get three exotics. Does this mean you are just given them without the work, or does this mean you can't get them unless you get the collector's edition?

Would you really give up exotic armor just for the chance to wear a class item?

I can wear an exotic emblem without giving up my exotic armour. Why not a class item?

Depends on what they do.

There's been little hints that Bungie is changing up some stuff with weapons and armor. I think Luke Smith mentioned in that Giant Bomb they're adding a new slot of some kind to our Guardians for instance. I think I saw somewhere else that Class Items will now actually have effects. It was either Luke or DeeJ who mentioned that they were doing something more with the weapon manufacturers as well.

Point being, it's a bit early to not care yet. :)

I imagine Cody is right

Though I have nothing to suggest he is, I just feel like it probably would count as your Exotic armour.

The Exotic Perk is an XP bonus though. Depending on how significant the bonus- yes, there are times I'd take an XP boost over other Exotics.

Do manufacturer's like Borderlands

I mean, there's already zero reason to use high RoF ARs (unless you're Raichu), might as well make them all come from the same crappy Bandit manufacturer.

Well, I don't know about details specifically, but all the rounded red and white guns are Suros weapons. The ones that like like FN SCAR style weapons are all Hakke. So it looks like there are at least more distinct models for each manufacturer. I'd be interested to know if the events of campaigns so far are in-universe responsible for the divergence.

I'm sure they're entirely inconsequential.

One is an XP buff, which is nice, but probably only useful (and marginally so) getting your guardian to level 20, which takes like 8 hours at most anyway. I think the buff is 10% from what I heard, so it will save about 45 minutes.

...the Warlock Bond on my demo character had “Increase upgrade rate on autorifles” and a perk that increased your Vanguard rep gain. Craziness!

Those aren't necessarily the exotic class items.

I really hope it's just a case that either:

1. The exotic class items are purely cosmetic.
2. Their perks are good, but you can acquire them in game. The special edition just gives them to you.

It would be really bad if these items matter, and are only available by ordering this stupid pack. Withholding my angry rant until I know the real deal here.

1. The exotic class items are purely cosmetic and/or are acquirable ingame: special edition purchasers will be med.

2. The exotic class items have excellent perks and cannot be acquired ingame: non-purchasers of the special edition will be med.
