Trials this week (Destiny)

Really let down with this weeks map. It may feel symmetrical but one side definitely has the advantage. They can get to middle faster and have a better positioning outside.

At least the networking issues are gone.

I thought it was neat how quickly the balance can shift when either team focuses on movement.

We lost a game where we started on the "advantage" side, playing against people that weren't as good as us, simply because small mistakes gave the opposing team windows of opportunity. Inversely, we kept pinning the enemy team at their spawn thanks to carefully placed grenades, even when they had the advantage side.

I noticed that due to the open spaces and sightlines, Blade Dancers seem to be at a significant disadvantage on this map, which is a nice change of pace (unless you're Ottermack).

I don't like it as much as last week's map, but as a Voidwalker, it was a nearly perfect map for my class (although I ended up just playing as a Sunsinger).

At least the networking issues are gone.

I've never had anybody drop, although we did have a single wonky game, connection-wise.

I kind of feel the opposite. I feel like both sides can get to the inside or the outside just as easily. On trials though you want to stay outside given that's where the cap point is. We won I think two matches by pinning a team inside and capping the point.

Inside is a death trap. Too many firebolt and arcbolt nades for me. It's also easier to snipe folks coming through the doorways using em as choke points. At least outside you can choose your location each round. Then if the team goes inside, you really got them by the balls. If you position your team out just right, you can watch the radar to see if they decide to flank you. When they choose one direction, then the team can move to that side to block the movement. There's not even a real threat from the middle to capture point because of map design, with maybe the exception of a well used super.

We were always surprised by how many teams wanted to rush straight inside and give us time to set up outside. Every new team we were ready for them to rush outside like we did, but I think maybe only 3 did all night.

That was... interesting.

We were already 6-2 when we ran into them, and I really wanted that Launcher. At first we thought it was just bad connection because their last man standing would be running into a wall then suddenly be dead somewhere across the map, but after we reached 3-0 they really turned it up a notch.

Their strategy was to send a "fake" Titan or Warlock running (or gliding) at us - taking no damage, of course - to distract us while the other two gunned us down from the sides, using him as radar cover. We had to teach ourselves not to shoot at anything coming straight at us, which is surprisingly difficult in a game as twitchy as Destiny, and could have been our downfall if they'd wised up and sent a "real" guy running at us for us to ignore.

After our 3-0 lead we just barely clawed our way to 4-4. I was doing my pessimist thing now and was sure we were going back home to the Reef. Mex and Jello ran down to the Sniper lane while I headed to the middle of the map to keep an eye on my radar.

Movement! A warlock was flying through the air towards me, and I was already lighting him up before I realised my mistake. I was doomed. Then Bam! Bam! Two sniper shots from my team. Two headshots. Three kills! We couldn't figure out how we'd wiped them with only 2 shots, but looking at the placement of their ghosts it looked like the Warlock had actually been standing right next to his teammates, and according to the killfeed he'd died from an explosion - Praedyth's Revenge had saved us with a pair of perfect Firefly detonations!

Tl;Dr - a Guardian displaced in time saved us from a Guardian displaced in location. Thanks Praedyth.

This has been one my favorite maps!

I really don't feel like either spawn has a real advantage. As long as your team sticks together and rushes outside, you should do well. I feel like it's the perfect size for Trials and more balanced than most of the maps have been. (Not to mention its damn pretty there on Phobos!)

My favourite too so far

Burning Shrine was pretty good too, but definitely not as well balanced. I think that one just felt comfortable because it's a map we all know. This one feels like it was designed specifically with Trials in mind.
