Friends join my fireteam at Skolas, and I go to orbit. (Destiny)
that sucks. There's definitely a glitch in the party joining feature. I've invited people to my games before, and it has actually pulled me into their game when they accept the invite, and vise versa.
Not sure what triggers it.
