so, is Astral horizon worth using? (Destiny)
by Schedonnardus, Texas, Friday, July 17, 2015, 18:47 (3517 days ago)
i leveled up my Astral Horizon Shotgun this week by turning in bounties with the red bull buff active, but i haven't really used it much. the RoF on it is really slow. What are y'alls opinions on it? Is it worth using this weekend during trials, or should i stick to the party crasher?
Probably not, but it sure looks cool

That said, I've been having ammo retention issues lately, so Replenish could be pretty clutch.

Heh - I tried my leveled party crasher for the first time last night, and quickly switched it out for something else - because ITS rate of fire was so low. :)
If Astral Horizon is slower, I'd shard it in a second. :)

I think the idea of Part Crasher is that you only need one shot.

I used to use Invective whenever I played crucible, but switched to Found Verdict and then Party Crasher. I went back to Invective last night and was surprised by how often I didn't kill with a single shot. Have to say that I prefer the single shot now that I've tried both for a while.

Party Crasher tips

Put shot package on it and a perk to max range, like smallbore. You will know the range is maxed if it equals a ranged out Invective or Found Verdict.
Always aim down sights for a shot. Shoot just at the limit of its range. It will take some getting used to to find its new range with shot package. Immediately punch if you are close enough (generally with a warlock you're fine. Titan's harder). It will one shot guys before they can one shot you.
If you do not have maxed range and shot package, DO NOT USE IT. It's best used as a one shot weapon. Even with full auto (which doubles the fire rate), it is slower than Found Verdict with negligible benefits.
If you do not like doing the ADS shot package all the time system, just use FV and Invective and two shot dudes. They are much better for that. Generally the best players go for the one shot method of Party Crasher, Felwinter, and Matador, but you can absolutely beat them with Found Verdict if you play it right, AND, as a bonus, it's generally more fun.

Not if you have virtually any other shotgun.

It's identical to the new Dead Orbit shotgun (which has a typo on the magazine size saying it's 6 even though it is 5), except you cannot reroll it. I would get that gun, and roll it for what you want if you like the look.
As for the fire rate, yeah, it's slow because it doesn't have full auto and isn't of the Swordbreaker type. As for the range, it's got a high base range but with no range perks, it's still lower than Found Verdict with its range perks, and just about every single other shotgun commonly used in the Crucible. Its impact isn't stupid high either.
Considering the number 1 thing in Crucible is range, followed by impact, followed by rate of fire, and it is mediocre in all of these things where Found Verdict is very good in all of these things, I would say not only should you not use it, but ANYONE who has a Found Verdict should not use it. If you have a maxed range shot package shotgun you also shouldn't use it.
For PvE, the number one thing is rate of fire. Because it doesn't have full auto, that's garbage. Don't bother using it there either. Let it sit in your vault.
It's possible in the all super mode they introduce in the next expansion replenish will become very useful, but until then, it's just not good enough.

you seriously know everything about every weapon, and how the perks stack/don't stack with other perks/armors.
I would seriously sit through and read reviews and tips if you had your own section.

I should get a life. Thanks though.

Send me an email if you want help with whatever it is. I would like to help with a perk guide, if that is what you're doing.
Will do!

It's foolproof. I call it the Cody Method: anything he says, the reality is the opposite. If he hates something, use it. Basically, you can use anything!
I was using my Swordbreaker in PvE, until I realized that Astral Horizon has nearly double the impact/better range, and started using that instead to fantastic results.
The perks may not be the most exciting, but the base stats are some of the best.

Now try using a Found Verdict and blow your mind.

This is correct. Shotguns are as such that the element doesn't really matter so much since they do so much damage. Found Verdict is just so good all around, you can take out anything. I use it over sword breaker on Praetorians even though it's the wrong element.

Yes, I remember when I first played Destiny and used FV...

He's always trolling. 4th horseman is ridiculously impractical compared to Found Verdict in 99% of situations, yet it's his favorite shotgun!

Killing a group of three captains in PoE level 35, round 4. Found Verdict does it faster and from greater range overall. 4th horseman reloads too slow and has shit range. You are mad vulnerable when you use it, especially against multiple targets.

Even Ascended, 3 captains would take 15+ Rounds with Found Verdict IIRC. I'm not sure either weapon is particularly practical for that.

What Fourth Horseman can do in that scenario - that a Found Zverdict cannot - is melt the level 35 major Captain in less than two seconds (literally). You can jump in, destroy one Captain, and reload while you jump away for a couple seconds before repeating on the other Captains. In short, Fourth Horseman will absolutely kill all three captains quicker than Foumd Verdict would, even with it's shorter range and longer reload time.

In my experience you either die because you got so close, or you die when you are reloading like a snail on tranquilizers. I'm not denying it has great burst damage power. It has a lot of that. But all round I simply prefer found verdict.

Nah, with specialist (which is round 4) it takes considerably less (half if I'm remembering the modifier correctly). Still have no idea how it compares since I mainly play on XBox.
