HUGE thanks to Funk for staying up and playing "one more game" and to Disciple for the clutch quick revives ... I can finally check Skolas off and complete my Triumphs!

Also I scored an Elder Cipher, Shadow of Veils, Shader, Emblem and Ship. It was (finally) a good night in Destiny. ;)

Glad we got it done despite the game totally being out to get us. Everything almost went south during the first round of mines. When I went to the middle mine, I put a couple of shotgun rounds into the dregs that were hanging out up there, got gunned down, revived myself, then fired another round to start clearing out the dregs again only to discover that I somehow revived with my rocket readied instead of my shotgun. I nearly blew myself up, but had just a sliver of health left when I made it over to revive you :p

Oh, and then there was crap like this:

Now that it's all done, we just need to knock out a 32 PoE and get those Elder Cypher bounties started!

For anyone trying: DPW strategy is great.

I'm going to review the Skolas strategies in a post later this week if I have time to write it up.

The DreadPirateWes strategy of hiding under the right hole worked very well, then eyeballing the 25% health to burn him and do the mines post death worked very well too.

Basically, use whatever gun you have as long as it's arc, then your highest damage rocket launcher for Skolas. Dragon's Breath or Guggenheim, probably.

The run was generally stress free using this method, and it didn't hurt my soul to try for 2 hours like on Crota. Most errors, again, were networking based.

Does anyone have a full video of this strategy?

I'll give it a go with you. Set up an FTB event and I will probably be able to make it.

I phrased it oddly. I don't have a recorder

I think getting the team chatter recorded would help a lot

Peaks, Dogcow and I did it Thursday this way. It took longer (peaks and dogcow's first time doing it legit, my first time doing it this way)... 3 attempts were all it took but we took our time--it was around 3 hours total, a little less than 2 on skolas. The first time we died due to confusion on mines at 50%. The second time we had some mis-coordination on mines at 25% (some tried to burn him, some ran for mines, he was almost dead and the mines were almost disarmed. heh). Finally we decided to disable the mines and be safe the 3rd time at 25%. Overall I think we did quite well considering the lack of experience in the group.

Really it's almost identical, other than you don't really rotate due to skolas. Before chains are broken you may need someone to hunt the hidden dude a time or two. Otherwise you can pretty well do it all from there, no real need to rotate to the other side, though it doesn't hurt to do so. Skolas teleports over and over between 2-3 positions firing at the hideaway, so watch for splash damage in the corners when he goes nuts and fires like 10+ shots in a row. We didn't do it "by the book" and it still seemed fine, if a little long. Really just break chains per usual, kill adds and rotate his debuff, burn him, kill adds, mines... rinse repeat.
