Adventures in raiding (apology to the Xboxers)

I failed all over the place.

I signed up for the XBONE. Crota raid. My Xbox hunter was all excited for her first raid, and hopefully I could get some gear that didn't make me want to turn the game off.

But instead a water main broke, causing traffic nonsense so I was late. And then, as it turns out, I'm not high enough level to actually do the hard mode raid. Luckily they found a substitute and I wandered off like the little brother that can't join in yet.

But wait! Xür is in town. Maybe he' selling something that will make me higher level.

He's not.

Except…there is a chest engram. And 33% is enough. I'm up to level 31 and raid-ready (not really, but let's ignore my weapons and say I am). XBONE raid is full, but there' s a 360 raid. The magic of cross buy means I can just switch over and use the same guardian.

So, I sign up, turn on the 360. Luxuriate in the Wireless chat headset that does not want to be a stereo headset and get ready to raid. Except, nobody from the raid is on my friends list. Even though they are on XBONE. Apparently the 100 player cap is still in place with 360. I still have not figured out how to get around it when I get an invitation from oholiab. Great. I'll just accept this and that will solve that forever and there will be no consequences ever.

Loading screen. 800GB or whatever to go. Riiiiiiiight. 360 has not been downloading the update in the background. Well, it's update 4, the most current one so I guess it has all the updates in a bundle. I apologize to the group for being stupid and not for seeing this coming. And we all wait 10 minutes.

Loading screen: update pack 3 1.7GB REMAINING. I tell the group to start the raid without me. They make it all the way to Crota before my updates are finished when I get kicked from the party. (Although the the 360 tells me each person has left. WAVES OF NOSTALGIA).

I can't get back in the party because nobody is on my 360 friends list. ( and thus the other apology reason for this rambling post, sorry for being a useless ghost of a raid member and then just disappearing)

If my primary goal hadn't been to get a Crux I would've just switched to normal! (And of course I didn't get one between 2 raids, but breitzen did at least). Next week, join me in my (possibly futile) quest to get the last exotic weapon I'm missing.
