"Destiny 2"? What if this is all the Destiny we'll get? (Destiny)

The wording for The Taken King (Year 2, v2.0) makes me think Destiny will progress much like most MMOs, i.e. major updates that significantly impact gameplay/content availability, but keeps the core game. However, I keep seeing people talking about their hopes with what will happen with "Destiny 2" over here.

To those people: what if there isn't a Destiny 2? What if this is all we get?
To everyone else: why would you like this? Why wouldn't you?

Well, because Destiny 2 has been in development for a while, and will most likely (hope, hope) not be tethered and held back by last-gen (with how much it hurt Destiny 1, I would expect things to be leaps and bounds better, as they were at one point).

If all we get is the last-gen-slave Destiny 1, well... At least it's a very fun game it its own right.
