Our Lighthouse Run *Vid* (Destiny)
by Beorn , <End of Failed Timeline>, Wednesday, July 29, 2015, 14:35 (3504 days ago)
KornyMunky, DreadPirateWes, and I got together on Monday night for a last-minute stab at the Lighthouse, and to my surprise, we sort of just steamrolled our way there. Seven games to finish it out 9-0, and we still had our Mercy intact. We only lost three rounds the entire run. Also, I apologize for everything that happens on Black Shield – I had never even stepped foot in that map until this game, so I was kind of lost and Wes/Korny carried me. I still don’t know what half the map looks like.
I streamed this on Twitch, but cut the feed before the Lighthouse so that I could film it without the annoying “Broadcasting” text on-screen. The Lighthouse stuff is in the second half.
I forgot to start recording/broadcasting, so we pick this up at 3-0 in our first game, Heavy round:

Woot! Congrats :D

Looking forward to watching this at home tonight. Nicely done!
Nicely done! Gotta say, that rocket at about 12:00 is pretty MLG, you hacker.

All the hax. The rocket fired later than I thought it would because I was gliding, and the roof came up kind of fast (did I mention I had never seen that map before?)
They had zero kills in that game and I had one death. Very nice. >.<

At least you went out in fire and explosions. Last Trials I walked off the map.

Our very first match, the very first thing that I do? Blink off the side of the map. I'm kind of glad that he didn't capture that, since I think he watched me do it... I could imagine him thinking "Well, this is gonna be a long night..."

It was glorious.

I really am sad I wasn’t recording that…
Then in the first round that I did capture, the hunter on their team jumped off the map and somehow Blinked back up over the railing. I thought for sure he was going to fall.
It was glorious.

Recording started just in time to capture me dying twice in 10 seconds.
During my run with TheeChaos and Ottermack last week, I started a match on Thieve's Den with a similarly glorious move. We were rushing up to the main outdoor platforms. I used my Warlock glide to gain a little extra momentum, but while I was in the air Chaos ran along side me and gave me a little "nudge". It was all it took to send me floofing off the edge, helpless to correct my trajectory :D
Oi Indeed...

multiple suicides and YOU GUYS make it to the lighthouse?
Perhaps I need to just play ToO with LFG nuts until I roll the right 9 teams in a row.

Probably could have been worse [VID]

I fell off the B platform on shores of time 3 times today in one game, but luckily I was playing Hunter so my triple jumped saved me each time.

Should have held off for two weeks... *IMG*

Looking at pics of the Lighthouse, I mean...
Being there as you fought your way to the lighthouse was great, especially after what happened last week. I can't even claim to have gotten you there, since you and Wes both fought well, bled plenty, and revived me when I was down (which, due to my playstyle, happened pretty often). Well deserved, and well earned. I watched the entire Twitch archive afterwards, and felt a bit surprised at how quickly I die. You guys must have been pretty frustrated at how often I scurried off, followed by the "guardian down!".
That aside, though, we meshed very well, as there wasn't ever one person at the top (If you check the scorecards, if we're not all about even, we're alternating at who dominates on certain maps). Totally doesn't seem like you're terrible at Destiny, as 45-3 is the smoothest run I've ever had as well; we got to the lighthouse in under an hour without so much as a practice run.
I'm sad that I only captured one clip that night (that slap-fest that I handed out at 27:45 in your video was funny from my perspective).
You never forget your first lighthouse trip...

I thought you were crazy charging in there at first -- my last good run with Beorn was playing ultra-conservatively. I quickly learned that if I followed you at a safe distance (or at least covered you at a safe distance) I might be able to kill an enemy chasing after you.
I can't believe we were 45-3!
Stats aren't quite as close as you hinted, but we definitely all had our moments.

BTW, I only had 2 revives the whole night! At least neither of those was after the closing bell, I think :P

That definitely helped my recklessness pay off. Axion Bolts tend to disorganize enemies, so I can usually pop in and take one or two with me, but having someone close by (and out of the radius of enemy grenades) helped me survive far more than I should have, and helped drop enemies that otherwise would have gotten their rezes.
Great stuff!

Huh, could have sworn that there were games where one of us ran away with the lead, but I must have confused those with the games that I played with Speedracer and Xenos right before. Speaking of which, don't forget that those assists go a long way, and as Speedracer can attest, most of my kills involve final blows on enemies that my teammates have already set at death's door.

I forgot to ask (or look during our run)... do you use the grenade ready on spawn armor? I switched to it a couple weeks ago and always toss an arcbolt at the start of every round. Seems very effective.

No, he was running with The Ram. If you have high Discipline, though, you pretty much start every round with a grenade anyway (which is what I was doing). Voidfang is still helpful though because the Axion grenade actually spawns a third Bolt, which can be devastating.
I was wearing Skull of Dire Amkhara because of its stupid high Intellect rating, so I'd almost always have a Super halfway through a match.

Yeah, Ram. On PS4, though (since I don't have a Ram there), I use Voidfang Vestments exclusively. While a high enough discipline will give you a pretty high chance at a grenade at the beginning of each round (assuming you throw it early enough), the third bolt can make all the difference (especially if you have Bloom on, though I wouldn't recommend that for Trials). Being able to have a grenade ready every time you're revived, though? Invaluable in a tight situation.
FWIW, My Hunter also runs Lucky Raspberry almost exclusively, and I mainly run as a Gunslinger.

We should all run Bad Juju at some point. Would be awful funny...

Oh right, the Ram... we chatted about that mid-match.
I had not considered Lucky Raspberry with Gunslinger! Silly me for reading the grenade perk "Improved Arcbolt Grenade" as only applying to arcbolts, lol. Do you use tripmines?

I did until last week, when power-leveling my Hunter exclusively through Crucible gave me a whole new appreciation for the incendiary grenade (Tagging/tracking enemies around corners? Valuable stuff...
Spawning/reviving with a tripmine is great for Control and Salvage, though...

Bad Juju is not that good in Trials

Too few targets for it to make any significant difference. Unless you're the only one getting kills, of course.

Yeah, when me you and Xenos were playing we had very few matches where we all performed equally well. I was probably the most bi-polar of the group but there were definitely some matches where I had 10-15 kills to lead the team (usually when my sniper rifle was functioning) and others where I had only one or two the entire match.
Speaking of which, don't forget that those assists go a long way, and as Speedracer can attest, most of my kills involve final blows on enemies that my teammates have already set at death's door.
We (at least I) don't call him "Kill-Stealin-Korny" for nothin!
