I've had a couple conversations with people where we were speculating what would happen if you drop your light level before The Taken King is released. Urk was asked about this on Twitter last night and confirmed that your level will be the highest light level you achieved.

I'm pretty sure those are cable ties holding that pipe to the frame.
I'm surprised there isn't duct tape on it.
