Who can I count on? (Destiny)

I don't want to end up like Eris. Who can I count on to do the Oryx raid with me?

1. As soon as reasonably possible
2. Completely spoiler free and on our own
3. With play sessions as long as possible

There's no fireteam builder or details about when the raid will be available yet, but I want to get a feel for the team.

I mean, I have a job, so #3 is hard to fully commit to, but You know what kind of time I am willing to put in.

I wouldn't worry about that. I'm not asking for 6 hour marathons or anything, just enough time for all of us to have some fun and make progress through it :-)

I haven't gone into a raid blind before, but I'd love to give it a try this time.

Who can I count on?

by TheeChaos @, Monday, August 17, 2015, 14:43 (3484 days ago) @ Cody Miller

I am game. I am even willing to take a day off of work to give a good long night of attempts.

I am saving my Focused Light until after the release so maybe I can sky rocket to lvl 40. Which brings me to my next point, is the raid going to be just lvl based or will this new light level system thing have effect on that?

Just wondering who's up for it & trying to draw the PS gang's attention.

I want the same thing for the same reasons. Trouble is, most PS4 members of the community play later than I do (some of this has to do with the fact that most don't seem to be on EST).

For now I plan to organize something on the Xbox probably beginning on a Thursday and committing at least a few hours a day until Monday night. We spent 14 hours on VoG with a virgin crew, so even though we understand Destiny raiding better than we did back then, I wouldn't want to guess how long it takes us.

I guess that means you need to find five people who are doing the same. We don't know how leveling is going to work, which I why I'm planning on not playing the raid until week two or three. Hoping there are enough people willing to say dark that long.

Something tells me this new raid is not going to be taking from previous raids... but that could just be a guess.

For the youtube channel, for recording.

He'll need volunteers to go in it blind, and I know you pre emptively said you were in for it. The big problem is that he's 10 hours in front of us, and if you can't play late, then it will be hard to do that raid and spend a few hours on it.

Of course, he could theoretically be asked to get up at 4 AM.

I hope it's got fresh stuff in it, but I'd be shocked if it didn't have similar interdependences in its mechanics that took forever for us to figure out the first time. I think we're now trained to look for such things. That said, all bets are off regarding how long it takes to figure out. Maybe we won't the first week we play, and that's okay. More than anything, I just want the experience of figuring out with other people who want the same rather than having it explained to me.

I'm in for a blind run, and (purely speculating) I think they might not open the raid until week 2. Like VoG, just to give everyone a chance to level up and race for World's First.

Agreed. I'm in the same boat. It all depends on if I have the time to figure it out.

I'd love to play with the rampancy crew! What I care most about is the purity of those participating. As I was saying to Cody last night, just knowing things inevitably affects how you play even if you're committed to not spoiling it for others. It affects your tolerance for trial and error, and your silence regarding a proposed approach might be interpreted as a no vote.

For that reason, I was thinking of scheduling it for times when the most people in the "pure" pool would be able to play. I was thinking of something like this.

TH - 9-11 EST
F - 9-12 EST
S - 1-? EST (Flexible depending on when the team is available)
S - 1-? EST (Flexible depending on when the team is available)
M - 9-Oryx's time of death EST

It wouldn't be that surprising if we finished Friday or Saturday--just putting it out there.

This schedule is optimal for me, but if five people who are committed to being spoiler-free can play when Narc can, I can be more flexible with my schedule.

All that said, I've heard Narc say that recording super-long play sessions isn't really doable. The VoG virgins I played with had a least one six-hour session. Is this realistic?

I am in Pacific time zone like you.

Weekend

by Cody Miller @, Music of the Spheres - Never Forgot, Monday, August 17, 2015, 16:42 (3484 days ago) @ marmot 1333

As awesome as it would be to do it like it did VoG and run right in at 2am and play till 9 in the morning, that is probably unrealistic. Maybe the weekend would be a good time? That way play time is more plentiful and schedules are more flexible?

Weekend

by marmot 1333 @, Monday, August 17, 2015, 17:48 (3484 days ago) @ Cody Miller

Sundays (Mornings in particular) are good for me.

I often eat dinner with friends ~7p Sundays but other than that I'm usually just doing laundry and cleaning up the apartment.

Oh snap, just realized I may be gone to a wedding that first weekend after 9/15 though.

Weekends are harder for me than weeknights. Tuesday, wednesday and thursday evenings are best for me to (reliably) play.

Likewise. Weeknights are best for me. Weekends are mostly family time.

Edit: But, I might be able to swing one day for the raid, maybe.
