This particular detail I've heard about from 2 different outlets now, and it's really not clear what it means:

"Not all exotics are getting upgraded for Year 2."

Does that mean that they're not moving to new attack values? Or just that they're not getting revamped with new perks and such (as I heard was being done to a few, such as Suros Regime and LBN)? I'm guessing the latter, since generally Bungie's plan seems to be for exotics to stick around.

Perhaps it was more clear when they talked about it on the livestream, but I wasn't able to watch it at the time and it's unlikely I'll have time to sit down for a full viewing in the next few days.

Yeah, the live stream makes it more clear...

Some - but not all - year one exotics will have a year two version (with updated perks and values). If you have ever acquired the year one version of a particular exotic, you can go to the big iPads on the wall by the Vanguard mentors and re-obtain the year one version, or even automatically obtain the year two version (if applicable).

Just for example, it appeared that while there are year two versions of Thunderlord and Truth, there is not a year two Gjallarhorn. Let's assume you currently have year one versions for all three of those weapons. On Sept 15th you will be able to walk up to the giant iPad and get a year two Truth and year two Thunderlord (upon turning in some materials), or re-obtain the year one versions of any of the three.

Does that make sense?

But this does not mean that your 'Year 1 only' Gjallarhorn is going to be 'left behind', Yeeessssss?

From attack values shown, it appears so right now. It's possible they didn't show us something of course, but only Year 2 weapons and armor will be able to be Infused, so I'm not sure the exotics stuck with Year 1 versions will be upgradeable to Year 2 attack/defense values.

Blueprints are per player.

Are vaults per player?

It sounds like they are not because if they were then you wouldn't need to use a blueprint to get multiple copies of a weapon (1 per alt).

This seems rather a kludge but I suppose it's forced on them by the inventory memory problems.

But it is a step in the right direction. Maybe an all next gen version of Destiny will have per player vaults. Who knows, maybe they will even become inventories available anywhere outside of combat. Though, to be honest, I don't see a great need to restrict vault/inventory access because having access to 3 primaries, 3 specials, 3 heavies really dilutes the idea of making strategic choices before going into combat.

But to be clear

Any weapon that doesn't get more powerful with TTK will still be just as powerful on all current content. So if you do a random strike after TTK, chances are you'll still have a good time using Gjallarhorn. If you get dropped into a TTK strike though, you might feel like Gjallarhorn is slightly under powered.

Right, which is why I believe dogcow used the phrase "left behind." They aren't losing power, but with a third less power than the Year 2 exotics they will be left behind once you are able to use the Year 2 versions.

Blueprints are per player.

Blueprints are not per player, they mentioned that in the stream. All of your characters will have access to all the exotics you unlocked.

That's what I mean by per player as opposed to per alt

by scarab @, Thursday, August 20, 2015, 17:00 (3481 days ago) @ Xenos

all alts have what the player has

Bungie used the term per account which, I assume, is the same as per player. Though I suppose a player could create two xbox live accounts (couldn't they???).

Hmm, then I am confused the other way. Are you saying vaults AREN'T per account after TTK? I think they would've mentioned that if that change was happening. That's something we would HAVE to know about before launch.

As far as I can gather:

* Your vault is shared between all 3 characters (same as now)

* Your exotic Blueprints are also shared between all 3 characters

So if any of your characters have a Suros Regime, all of your characters now have access to the exotic blueprint.

my bad - I was thinking how vault makes you transfer gear

by scarab @, Thursday, August 20, 2015, 17:39 (3481 days ago) @ CruelLEGACEY

that's why I was thinking that it was per alt.

It's the - you must put it in and take it out - sharing mechanism that makes me think of it as per alt. Weapon equip status is per alt.

Blueprints aren't really changing that. They just let you make quick copies instead of waiting until you find more copies of a weapon that you found before. Find it once - make copies.

You wouldn't need that if you had an inventory and the weapons never leave it. Equipping wouldn't take a weapon out of the inventory. It would still be there for another alt to equip.
