Stats update without stats. (Destiny)

DBO Projekt Secret 7 is underway, (shhh don't tell anyone, cuz it's secret) and in development we seem to have uncovered some mysteries/oddities/irregularities.

In particular, there is some debate on how to calculate win %. This may seem easy, but the issue is with games that you either quit or are dropped from. For example, If you are dropped from a trials match and your teammates win, the system flags that game as a victory for you (at least data-wise). Bungie and DTR do not count that game toward your win % though. It will count as a loss for you as it does on your cards.

My question to you is how do you think it should be counted? Should we count it as a win for you if your teammates still win? I like this best. You get what your team gets, and if you were the guy to win a round for your team, you'll still get a victory to show for it.

or Should it automatically count as a loss for you, despite what your teammates result is? Since this is how Bungie and DTR approach it, your stats will better match theirs and be more consistent to their sites.

The third option is this, Should we remove that game from the record. It won't count as a game played at all. My concern with this method is that if your teammates don't quit after you are booted, they most likely get a loss with unfair Odds, while you receive no penalty.

It also appears that some of DTR's calculated data may be incorrect. My trials Orb dropped per game stat is wrong by a large margin. It should be 3.2 but they give me 1.72. We will be performing our own calculations in the future from the raw data to remove unsightly errors like this.

Those of us on the Triple R committee are committed to giving you the highest quality stats and ranking anywhere on DBO, so we take this matter seriously. You can trust that we have your best interests in mind at all times.

Wait, so how are you collecting the stats if not from DestinyTracker?

You can sign up to get an API key to read data from bungie's servers. They've got a pretty large API they deal with, and it's mostly public (because they use it themselves for their site and mobile app). I got one 6 weeks or so back before I realized that I'd be going all unofficial if I did something like moving gear around, which is unsupported/unofficially public. I did get an iOS app going that showed my current emblem for my warlock, which was cool I guess for a couple hours of work. Here's a link if you're curious, though it's not for the faint of heart.

Sly is correct. We are pulling stats directly from Bungie servers using the same techniques that DTR is applying through the Bnet API. There isn't much documentation available though, so new things are being designed by our engineer/programmer.

I shouldn't say too much, big brother may be watching.

Why not just include a "disconnected" category?
