Shotgun damage initially was set to be 10% lower, for example. Now they basically halved it. I guess I'm going to go ahead and quit using those again. Fusion rifles got a PvE buff. Lots of little details in there.

EDIT: Man they DESTROYED Field Scout. Just annihilated it.

- The big maps are back in control (but with no vehicles). Can't wait to play First Light again. :)

Shotguns vs fusion rifles

by Cody Miller @, Music of the Spheres - Never Forgot, Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 16:20 (3461 days ago) @ CyberKN

I won't know until 3 hours from now when the patch downloads, BUT

I am very surprised to see only the perks nerfed on shotguns, rather than the the amount of range inherent to the guns. Even without the perks, you can still get kills from some distance away in PvP. This will help, but it is not a solution in the long term.

I also get what they are doing to fusion rifles. They want to make long range ones less deadly, and short range ones better for competing with shotguns. Again, shotguns will still win, and everybody who loves fusion rifles loses because the long range ones were the only ones that were actually any good.

As for the incredible nerf to shotguns in PvE, I will only accept this if there are not any bullet sponge enemies anymore.

Expect a full field test shortly.

We've known the range wasn't going to be changed. I think the previous weapon balance notes said that explicitly. Also, the critical hit factor is being reduced, right? Hopefully along with the nerf to the range perks this will add up to a bigger overall nerf than it might otherwise imply.

So it appears that if you put on better armor, you will do more damage because your light average is higher. That's pretty stupid.

I want to know how this will work. Hope it's not like Halo, where any player on a team can make it skip for everyone. Generally, I wouldn't mind, but if Destiny year two is going to have a better story, then I'll care more about submersion and won't want to skip. At the very least, I hope they don't let us skip on first viewing.

Glad to see Thunderlord get some love. It was already my Gjally substitute on the PS4.

And now, instead of 14 levels, we get like 140 light. But it's a simpler and better system, according to random people online. All right, random people. We'll see. But it's not looking to be significantly different than it was before.

Range has been changed to an extent

by someotherguy, Hertfordshire, England, Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 16:39 (3461 days ago) @ Ragashingo

At least on pre-HoW shotguns, all range perks have been nerfed by 50%. That should make a pretty big difference, considering those perks were compulsory for an OP shotgun build.

Fusion rifles seem like they've just been re-nerfed, honestly. At least they;ll be on par with Shotguns for PvE now I guess? *shrug*

No it hasn't. Go into the vault of glass normal as a level 26. Note how much damage you do. Now put on armor to get to level 34. How much damage do you do? The exact same amount. A higher level does not increase your damage done. It only make a difference between 4 and 1 levels below the enemy.
