Wondering if I'm the only one who thinks they might not get to play today. Had my wife start the download while I was at work 3 hours ago and I'm at 21%. Anyone else having issues this bad with getting update 2.0?

Do you have good internet? I started my download a just a bit over an hour ago and past 30%. Still slow, though, but it's a massive update.

Yes, I pay for a quality internet connection. Considering all my other devices are working just fine, I don't think it's my network.

Significantly worse than it should be.
by Funkmon , Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 22:25 (3601 days ago) @ BeardFade
Because I have terrible internet, I can usually trust things to max it out. And it's pretty consistent maxed out, too. I'm only averaging 200kBps on the Xbox judging by the percentage, about half what it should be.
However, it might be a Windows style "installation at 60%...done" rush on the last 35 percent or something. I've seen that happen in Destiny updates before.

Significantly worse than it should be.
by BeardFade , Portland, OR, Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 22:27 (3601 days ago) @ Funkmon
I'm definitely finding a lot of articles particularly about bad downloads for Xbox. Curses.

I'm at 74% and it's been about 1% every 15 minutes. Usually these download fairly quickly for me.

I'm getting about 1% / minute.
by Ragashingo , Official DBO Cryptarch, Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 22:34 (3601 days ago) @ BeardFade
But I've just kept it on the Xbone Games and Apps screen. It always seems like letting Destiny run and update is slower and this seems to be working pretty well so far...

I'm getting about 1% / minute.
by BeardFade , Portland, OR, Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 22:37 (3601 days ago) @ Ragashingo
i just got out of Destiny too and agree that it's going faster. Thanks for that idea.

I started my download approximately 6 hours ago, it's at 8.65 / 17.65 (4 hours left) right now.
When I got home from work it said 7 hours left, but I ran the "Test Connection" thing about 5 times and it eventually sped up to 4.

Turn Destiny Off, makes a big difference.
by BeardFade , Portland, OR, Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 22:46 (3601 days ago) @ BeardFade
I'm getting about 1% every 30 seconds now. If I'm not mistaken, there are multiple packs to download though, so that 1% is only for 1 pack.

No difference on my end :(
My download ETA is longer now than it was when I started four hours ago.

That sucks.

Think I'll be partaking in a different hobby/project tonight, don't think I'll be done with downloads until midnight or so.

Mind you, it's still pretty slow, but considerably faster than before killing Destiny.

I'm in Kansas City. You're technically much closer to Fiber than LOTS of places around the country. :)
Also, move! I've lived in the middle or Missouri, too. It's horrible. :P

Where'd you live, just out of curiosity? I'm in the Columbia area now, which I actually don't mind so much. It is rough adjusting from Califoria, though. Being an hour from San Francisco and a few hours from Lake Tahoe and the mountains was really, really awesome. Have absolutely none of that here. :(

Oh yeah, there's nothing like that here, either (I mean of course! If I said we had mountains and oceans in Kansas City, I hope you wouldn't believe that :P), and that's why I've been trying to gain the ability to move somewhere beautiful in the Pacific Northwest for the last few years. I'm pretty tired of these landscapes at this point.
I'm in a suburb just north of Kansas City right now. Downtown is a 10 minute drive. But I lived in Columbia for four years while I attended college there (and I was just there a couple of weekends ago for a wedding). I like some of downtown Columbia (when thirty fraternities aren't converging on the bars) and some of the parks around town. While I enjoyed a lot of my art teachers, I think most of my college experience was pretty poor so Columbia is associated with a lot of mixed feelings.
I'm missing DoDecaCon this weekend, but I usually have a table at the con and Midwest GeekFest there.

I've lived in Illinois, Missouri, Northern California, and briefly Texas and Delaware. While in California, I visited family in Spokane, WA, and Portland, OR. The Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful place I've ever been, both visually and climatically. I love rain and fall-type temperatures, so that obviously biases me to that area, but it's just so nice. I've never been much a beach person, but the dramatic cliffs of the Pacific Northwest beaches are really incredible.

I do really enjoy Columbia, but it's mainly nostalgia. I hated college (did a year a Culver-Stockton, then transferred to Mizzou, where I did three semesters and dropped out to join the Air Force), but my time in college was amazingly fun, so Columbia holds a lot of my best memories.
As an aside, I'd be interested in hearing about your college experience. I was attending for graphic design, but abandoned it for multiple reason (the main one being that I realized I wasn't really sorted for that sort of career; sitting (or standing, whatever) at a desk all day would drive me crazy. I much more suited to labor intensive jobs, turning wrenches). But also, I felt like the way college is designed really turned me off to the whole experience, with all the irrelevant mandatory credits and just the way they find every excuse to suck money out of you. I'm surprised I went for as long as I did, actually.
I'm actually not too familiar with Kansas City; I never made my way there very often. Every now and then for concerts, but that's really it. I was there a few weekends ago, though, for the Oddball Comedy Tour thing with Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer, which was absolutely incredible.

I've always dreamed of tall pine trees and rolling forests hidden in mist. Going out there for the first time was so fulfilling. Coming back was so depressing. :)

I think it depends upon your career but now as an artist, yeah, I would have done college completely differently. For art, what you need is a great portfolio (and to know people who already work in the business). A degree doesn't really seem to matter at all. I would have just taken those art classes that benefited me (anatomy and illustration) over and over and never have worried about getting an A in statistics or basket-weaving...
And while I don't regret it because I DID learn a lot from my illustration professor and a few others, I probably went to the wrong school. MU, in general, is sports and business. Living in the dorms for the first two years was horrible. Idiots kids just constantly drunk and passing out in my doorway. I remember my friend who went to Kirksville talking to me about how they played Magic in the cafeteria and had LAN parties every weekend and I wanted to throw the phone out the window!
I went from a Journalism major to Russian Literature to a Make-Your-Own Degree in the first two years. Finally got out of the dorms and into the thick of art classes junior year. I decided to go all out and do a BFA so I had to do almost double the credit hours I had been doing before to graduate in four years (and more importantly, before the money was gone), and they were almost all intense studio classes.
Between anxiety from courses, terrible advisers who led me astray, court-dealings with swindling landlords, and especially a 'break-up' with my only friends in the area, I got pretty lonely, sick, and dropped to under 110 pounds. Because of that intense workload I was in classes from 8 to 5 with not enough time to get to the next class let alone eat right. And then I spent most of the time after that in a studio painting or sculpting my homework until I fell asleep. I used to skip Art & Architectural History to take naps and use Tomb raider and Assassin's Creed to remember the landmarks. Getting 110% in a class I never went to was one of my proudest achievements in college. :)
I'm actually not too familiar with Kansas City; I never made my way there very often. Every now and then for concerts, but that's really it. I was there a few weekends ago, though, for the Oddball Comedy Tour thing with Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer, which was absolutely incredible.
Growing up here, downtown was always a 'scary place' in my head. But thanks to gentrification, we've pushed all the poor people out so we can get back to having fun in skyscrapers. ;) Lots of restaurants, things to do now!

I miss real mountains living in NYC too.

Yep, lived in Vacaville when I was stationed at Travis Air Force Base.
Vacaville was a decently nice town, but it was a great location. Basically a two hour drive or less from the mountains, the beach, Lake Berryessa. A not ridiculous drive for a weekend trip to LA or Reno. It was perfect.

I got off work at 3 PM, got home and started. Took a nap, woke up at around 8:30, and my installation had stopped completely.
The error message said something went wrong, and had the option to launch the game anyway, try again and cancel. So I click again, and it said Sorry, that didn't work "for some reason". Isn't that something? 'We can't fix our error just cuz.'
Nice.
After an Xbox Support chat with a guy who must've literally come from a gamer forum, I followed a suggestion to uninstall/reinstiall it. So that's gonna be a 12 hour thing.
Crazy thing? When it was flopping back and forth between working and failing, it was at 90%.
I had the same thing happen. I just rebooted and it continued on. Also had it say "Installation Stopped" a few times, but running a Network Test restarted it.

Uh . . .

Did all that. Disconnected/reconnected, cleared cache(3 times), rebooted, turned off/on, cleared MAC, two internet tests--even did a hard reset of the entire unit.
Nothin'.

It took me just over three hours to download just the 2.0 update. I can't imagine having to get all the old ones, too.

Started around 1800 when I got home and now at 2200 it's sitting at a resounding 10%. Luckily I haven't been babbooned, wesealed, canaried, or netflixed off the internet yet so I'm hopeful it'll be 50% when I wake up. What worries me is we pay for ammount downloaded and 17 gigs is a little over half of our monthly allotment.

I'm taking mine to the observatory office tomorrow.
