So no Marty music in Taken King, or at least the soundtrack?

Hmmmm.

Hmm? What did you expect with lawsuits, and Marty allegedly disrupting work?

It said he had composed most of the music up front for the entire run of the game. I took that to mean we'd hear his stuff for years to come.

I believe it was that he had composed themes for the duration of the franchise, not the pieces themselves. Though, what actual distinction that makes I do not know.

I read that to mean he'd composed the themes that were to frame the game over that period; as I understood it, additional pieces still needed to be composed.

It may be that what we got in Year 1, plus whatever it is on Music of the Spheres that we haven't heard yet, is all there was.

It may be that once the dispute started, no new music was composed, and all the work from summer '13 on was for game audio and mixing.

I'm getting a sinking feeling. The new music hasn't impressed me yet.

Really? I love this piece and especially this one. Actually, that second one might be one of my favorite Destiny pieces thus so far. When I first heard it I wanted to tell my fireteam to shut up!

I totally agree. I really like it. However, I am worried on the game's potential over reliance on only a couple themes. We'll see when it comes out, obviously.

I absolutely love both of those tracks. The second one you posted had such a strong ODST vibe to it as well I felt :)

I like the second one better, but not better than anything on the first Destiny soundtrack. That could change, but what worries me is that I almost always liked Marty's music on first listen.

And there you go, the elephant in the room. I'm trying to be fair--am I judging it differently because I know Marty wasn't involved? I don't think so. I'd heard it before I knew.

There is no doubt to the genius of Marty. :) I guess I see this as new and different music rather than better or worse. Since I've been listening to the old stuff so much for so long I find it refreshing. If I could compare them all with fresh ears, Marty's shadow would likely fall over everything else.
