Because level is meaningless now; the minimum standard is your light level.

I think the highest you can get with old gear right now is 170.

A level 20 can run the Nightfall...

it no longer showed up as "too hard" for Bonkle. Theoretically we can carry low-level folks through it now, which I think is great.

Maybe it's a result of the weird status of this particular week--post 2.0 patch but before TTK.

Maybe it will make more sense next week.

(Then again, maybe it won't.)

Same reason the Level 5 difficulty in Restoration(the first mission) used to show up as Hard: modifiers.

Nightfall always showed/shows up as Very Hard, regardless of what level you are/were. The Nightfall modifier automatically changes the difficulty of said strike to Very Hard. You notice(d) how the story missions--when selected on any difficulty other than default--showed up as Hard? That's because of the Heroic modifier. The game knows(or at least should know) that the mission is at level 9 or 14 or whatever, and you're level 30-34; it's going to be shamefully easy. But the Heroic modifier(all those Majors....gone...) made the mission "hard", even though it obviously never was...unless you were playing The Wakening.

You probably didn't see this the last time you created a new character, but if you tried to select Heroic at your lower levels, there was a very good chance it showed up as Very Hard, maybe even Impossible.

The game knows it's not hard, it just puts that there as a....I guess a disclaimer.

I think so. Lukems said that the level difference was minor and far more dependant on light level after the Court of Oryx reveal stream.

I did see this when I had a lower level character, but never when I was at the level or above of the activity. Nightfall never showed up as Very Hard once I was leveled up enough.

The box for selecting difficulty is missing, yes. But the text "very hard" is there in the tooltip, in red.

Of course, without knowing when this picture is from, and the stats of the character that was in use, this doesn't prove whether nightfall ALWAYS showed up as very hard (I honestly don't remember, though it probably did). But there is definitely a place for it to show up.

We've always had it on the tooltip, but it is definitely not as attention-grabbing as the box, which would explain Kerm's confusion.

About the box, I think we never had a box if there was only a single option. Even the Raids omit it the first time you did them (as a fireteam leader, of course).
