The first step of the Jolly Holliday quest at first glance looks… wicked hard? You have to gain fame in the crucible by killing people with the Last Word equipped. You need to get to 100%. A kill nets you 1%, but a death subtracts 2%. So you need above a 2.0 K/D over a long stretch of time.

Fortunately, there are things to make it easier.

First of all, you don't have to make the kills with the Last Word. As long as it's equipped, you get fame for kills with any weapon or ability.

Second of all, you get bonus fame for certain medals, like multikills and kill streaks. I managed a 15 kill streak, and I shot up to about 60% fame from around 20%.

It took me about an hour, but the biggest tip is to just not die. Prioritize that over getting kills. The kill streak medals are very beneficial to the fame tracker. Use a machine gun and clean up getting as many kills as you can. Also get good with the Last Word. Never aim down sights. Ever. That doesn't work anymore.

The final step of the quest is a special strike (similar to Thorn), but with a 290(!) recommended light level. Looks like that will be a while…

Thanks. I was wondering how it worked. I played a few games, but didn't make much progress because I thought it was only counting kills with TLW, so I was just rushing in to get kills.

This finally rewards the Chaperone, right? I really want it, and hopefully I can reach a light level to do the final step soon.

Well dang. I guess I did it the hard way. I'd recommend the hard way though because that tiny little bounty I think made me a better crucible player.

I did it normally and sometimes even with a 2.5 K/D I'd lose points. Overall it's pretty easy to have a 2.0, but the bounty is harder than that.

You get ~3% for getting a win. You can equip TLW right before you win and get that percentage. Will take awhile, but you can get it.
