DBO Admins Idea/Request here! (Destiny)

I know its been crazy this week with the multitude of new information. My question is should we add a Light Level to the DBO Fireteam builder. It looks like a lot of the events are going to be "Recommended Light Level" and therefore level 40 would not be a good indicator of if someone is ready for the event.

What do you guys think?

Edit: Re reading that sounded a little demanding to me. I know release was just yesterday and you guys are doing a great job. I just wanted to bring it up.

You're fine. I'm a lot more (playfully) shrill and demanding when making feature requests. I also requested that Patrol be added as a game type option cause Patrol can be darn hard!

Actually...

by someotherguy, Hertfordshire, England, Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 11:45 (3453 days ago) @ Ragashingo

Now there's some really tough and/or interesting stuff going on in Patrol. Lots of high level enemies, good sources of glimmer, and mysteries to be solved. Hell, technically the Court of Oryx is patrol, right?

Dreadnaught Patrol is AMAZING.

I love the whole key/rune thing. I was happy yesterday to finally get a Key, and I didnt have to do 3 youtube videos to figure out what the hell it was for. I was just exploring and found it and it was great. My goal is to not use YouTube videos for the Dreadnaught, but figure it out with friends. I was lucky enough to get 5 calcified shards.

I had alot of fun playing with you yesterday!

I agree! I love absolutely love it. I haven't really figured much out, just getting lucky drops for Runes and such, but I did find a hidden chest that you have to do something specific to activate, then get to before a time runs out. It was just difficult enough to make feel pretty good for finding it.

Yeah, I think changing it to Light would be a good idea. Eventually we’re going to pull your character info straight from Bungie.net (woo!) via the API, but for now you can just type in your approximate Light level. Does anyone know what the max Light level for TTK is?

I’ll be updating that as well as the activity list soon.

But, can we build in an override on the pulled character info? If I'm wearing crappy armor for a crucible run one day I don't want people to be like "oh, Funkmon's not good enough."

I would guess 300, but just giving us 3 digits would probably be fine.

Can you make it automatically determine if the player has a gjallarhorn equipped and exotic Trials emblem and if not auto-boot them from FTB?

No seriously it's an awesome tool, the best addition to DBO since we got a frontpage.

Love the FTB, but I think character level isn't really the issue. The issue is how we indicate which activity. Right now I don't have a good handle of what the activities will be and what levels they'll offer.

You’re right. The readability of activities can be significantly improved; it’s something that I’ve been thinking about for several months but I don’t have any good ideas quite yet. One of the tricks is that whatever we end up with needs to be dynamic enough that we can change the activity list (potentially significantly) every few months when Destiny releases shuffle things around.

I think I've played too much Destiny these last two days. I don't remember playing with you. Was it Monday or Tuesday? Or are you being sarcastic because I've neglected you this week?

Baffled.

I’m curious… Now that I’ve been thinking about it, do we even need Light/Level on our RSVPs anymore? I’m thinking not…

I never look at it. I care more about what class they are running.

That's how destinylfg.net does it now

It's only really been helpful at the start of a new expansion when some people were under-leveled... I'm not sure about now tho'. It might be a good idea to wait until after this weekend when we have some more experience with how severely being under-leveled affects it

I think so. It's pretty important.

For the first few raids, it's good to know what we're getting into. It gives us information about what we might see. There are also new people.
