Ok gang, now that we've had a day with this thing many of us have completed the main Oryx story/quest line, and if so we should pretty much be at max level, but not at max power (er max light). Unfortunately I don't have a very clear idea of how to quickly progress my light level. As I see it there are 2 ways to gain more light:

1- Drops. What's the best way to get drops, is it by running strikes?
2- Earn it (by which I mean buy armor/guns). What's the best way to earn those Legendary Marks so you can buy armor & weapons?

Is there anything else I need to do to get ready for the raid other than gaining more light?

Court of Oryx looks really promising as well. Definitely recommend a fireteam of 3. Destroyoboy and I were doing some last night just the 2 of us. Then a random guy came up and was helping. The idea was cool but implementation was bad.

There are 2 Knights you fight, and basically they have to be close to each other before you can damage them. Our random guy kept luring the sword wielding Knight away, so we almost didnt beat the timer.

BUT, we got several drops from this.

I also ran 2 of the new strikes and got a legendary engram from each of them. New Legendary Drop rates are awesome.

Lastly, Use any commendations you have to level your faction/vanguard. I took all of them and put them on my hunter and leveled faction/vanguard/and crucible about 2 times. Granted I had about 15 commendations I wasnt using. But this helped me get the gear I have and ALOT of light level.

I am not even sure what I want to do today. SO MUCH THINGS

Daily helps. PvP is participation in 1 match for 15 marks. Daily heroic, once you're nearing 240, should go pretty smoothly, but I haven't done that one yet.

I've gotten 2 primary weapons, 1 secondary, and 2 chest pieces from faction upgrades. Not 280, but 240-260 light levels.

Blue engrams scale up like they used to (36-40 is kind of like 16-20 back in the day) but they seem to follow your light level. So you inch forward 5-10 light every 2-3 engram drops you get. I think it's based off your light level when the engram drops, so keep your light as high as possible. This is probably your bread and butter from 200 to 240, getting a couple pieces from "lucky" drops along the way.

I'm still questing, these look to be a great way to get some decent rewards. Looking forward to getting that sword. :D

Weekly heroic gives a guaranteed legendary the first time each week. IIRC that's at 260, I'm getting close to where I want to try it.

Once the strikes are possible for me, I'd like to try for staying in the list for greater rewards. Don't know what that means, but maybe blue fire or something eventually. ;)
