New subclasses: A little OP, or Super OP? (Destiny)
by Korny , Dalton, Ga. US. Earth, Sol System, Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 16:22 (3453 days ago)
Stormcaller effectively makes a Fist of Havok obsolete with the Landfall perk, while allowing him another seven seconds or so of zappy, chaining ranged damage:
Our melee is also even longer ranged than our other subclasses, and it can chain between enemies.
It feels impossible to push against an enemy in Rift when they have Nightstalkers ready to nail a whole team with their tracking shots...
A Titan's Panic of Sol grants him a significant resistance against damage upon activation (the biggest problem with Strikers), allowing him to absorb a direct shotgun blast and melee before killing you, and running off with his Rocket Launcher hammers that let him nail people before they can get decent shots on him.
I don't have a huge problem with the new classes, but I do wonder how Bungie plans for the average player to successfully counter them, when they're all range-based, and can all start hurting people before they can get a shot off against the user...
And why can't Stormcallers blink, Bungle? We just get the pseudo-blink during a Super. Ain't enough!

Yeah, sunbreaker is way powerful, but Titans need some blink love too!
I don't know why anyone would use any of the old subclasses. The new third subclass is insanely OP compared to the original ones now.
Stormcaller is insane for taking out entire teams in PvP (as you just showed), and the Sunbreaker is like if Fist of Panic and Golden Gun had a baby that infused a Sunsinger.
All that said, I love them. I haven't had a chance to try out the Nightstalker yet, but I look forward to getting around to it.

Hunter: Very OP
by Cody Miller , Music of the Spheres - Never Forgot, Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 16:47 (3453 days ago) @ Korny
The new hunter subclass is amazing.
The horizontal grenade completely wrecks, especially around corners. The range on the bow is very very good. It was so satisfying to shoot a blade dancer, have him slowed, and still swinging his melee attack despite being suppressed.
In PvE it's astonishingly useful since large groups of enemies are commonplace. I don't have the tree leveled up yet, but if you have a defender Titan and a Nightstalker, they can provide a huge amount of defensive capabilities. If I can get a year two Monte Carlo I'd love to try it out with the vanishing smoke bombs. I am wondering how having three smaller shots will play out versus one large one.

I'm excited about them, even though I'm only part way through my Nightstalker.
But supers should be SUPER. I hope they don't nerf the new ones, but rather BUFF the old ones to bring them up to snuff. Maybe reduce the base charge rate in PvP to further emphasize their "Super" nature (also reduce the number of orbs to keep teams from Super-chaining too much), but in my opinion an on-target-Super should be a death sentence to anything besides another Super (if the "other" one has defensive capabilities).

That argument has always been really stupid to me: "Don't nerf the OP weapons! Make the other weapons better!"
As if that would change anything for the better. Time-to-kill is an important factor in games. The better something is at killing, the more limitations it should have, otherwise you end up with something like The Last Word, or Thorn, which had zero counters, and effectively destroyed the primary sandbox.
A Super should be a huge advantage, but not an insta-win button that you can use to wipe out entire teams with zero effort. That's why people complained about BladeDancers and Strikers, but not Gunslingers or Sunsingers, which have better balance. You can outwit a Gunslinger. You can kill a Sunsinger as he's rezzing. You can't stop a Fist of Havok, and BladeDancers can absorb a rocket.
These new classes? They are too difficult to stop for most people, and I know for a fact that you'll be the first one crying when any one of these Supers is used against you in Trials. They're all Crowd Control supers, so how will small teams stop them?
On top of that, They are team-heavy classes, which grant buffs and abilities to teammates that none of the other, more lone-wolf classes do.

I don't save film clips, but I've been stopped many times. Try FoH'ing people who just picked up heavies... you can easily be torn to shreds as you're coming down to a landing. (Usually, you res with your super intact - but I had one last week where I was killed as I hit the ground - killed nobody - and res'd with no super at all.)
Maybe nobody can stop YOU - but the rest of us are mortal. :)

I seen it too! Someone once killed ottermack in trials while in the middle of fist of havok, with the unstoppable perk, using a single shotgun blast. Only time I've ever heard him get mad!

I got nailed so many times during ToO I switched to defender

Just like sunsingers at first, they seem amazing, but were actually relatively balanced. I think it's too early to call for nerfs, it's all just too new. Give it 3ish weeks for people to gear up and experiment... and I think the meta will be very different. These may or may not be as OP as they first appear.
Besides, you always make supers look OP. I need to play with you more, learn from the best. And have a great time doing it. :D

Not Weapons...
by Mid7night
, Rocket BSCHSHCSHSHCCHGGH!!!!!!, Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 17:42 (3453 days ago) @ Korny
I'm not talking about general weapons, things you have at your disposal at all times. I don't want faster TTK any more than you, I hate twitch-shooters (why I don't play COD), but using a Super is not a twitch (IMO). If you think it is, then I guess we just disagree there. Using a Super is far more deliberate than just point and shoot, which is why I'm not bothered by their "OP-ness". Also as was mentioned by another, we're all still learning the ins and outs of the new classes and how they fit with the others. Time will tell.

Supers already almost ruin PvP, IMO

Bladedancers, SUnsingers, and Defenders I can deal with. The Bladedancer will often kill me, but I stand a good chance of taking him down with me, because I've got the shotgun/melee timing down pretty well. Sunsingers and Defenders both need to be smart about how they use their supers in order for them to be successful. If used strategically, they can be great. But they can also be countered.
But when it comes to Nova Bomb, Fist of Havok, and Golden Gun, they are just cheap in every way. You can outplay your opponent at every turn, but with a touch of a button you are dead and there is nothing you can do about it.
This is one of the reasons I love Trials of Osiris so much; the short rounds and relatively low kill counts mean most players will usually only get 1 super per game, maybe 2. So you need to be very strategic about how and when you use it. In regular 6v6 crucible, the amount of super spam flying around is almost unbearable for me. I love so much about Destiny PvP, but increasing the amount of supers would tip me over the edge.
That's why I think Mayhem is a great addition. Give people who enjoy using the supers a place to go nuts with them and have fun. If anything, I'd like to see Supers tuned down significantly in the rest of the crucible... if not in effectiveness, then at least in frequency.
Just my 2 cents :)

Absolutely agree. One of my first "suggestions" was increasing the timer (decreasing the frequency) of Supers in PvP.
Titan = Super OP

I've found that the Titans are absolutely running riot in the crucible at the mo. Nothing a trusty nova bomb can't handle though.
Titan = Super OP - 100%

Had 3-4 people shooting him across panthean. We died instead. Not cool with the armor buff.

I haven't used the hammer in PvP, but as a hardcore Titan user, I'm SUPER excited to use a super and get more than 1 kill. Not to mention all the other times where I get filled full of bullet holes just trying to get into position to use my super.
It's a wonderful wonderful change for a Titan user IMO.

Sounds like a Hunter with Golden Gun. If the guy is on fire don't go for the kill unless you know you can get it or you have no other options. I run and hide from supers all the time.

New subclasses: A little OP, or Super OP?
by Durandal, Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 17:16 (3453 days ago) @ Korny
I believe I did warn about this before. Strikers and Bladedancers are the worst off, since they both have to get very close to be effective, and blink strike/punch are not in the same league as the new melees. At least a Gunslinger can still sit back and out shoot the other classes, although the Voiddancer with the 3 shot perk is effectively a Gunslinger+.
What would you do to change up the old classes?
I would like to see blink strike change to compensate for the delay between button press, teleport, and damage applied. The positional damage buff should be rolled into the attack, just like hammernators get the armor debuff, and there should instead be a perk for suppression/blind effect for rear melee hits.
Bladedance should be capable of making 8 orbs just like all the other classes, and the attack itself should do more damage per hit so you don't waste all of it on an equal level yellow bar. In PVP there should be a radar jamming effect if you are close, since the stealth aspect doesn't seem to work well.
Titans should get an armor boost for melee kills, so that running in and punching things is more encouraged.
Do people just not shoot at you?
by TheeChaos , Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 17:31 (3453 days ago) @ Korny
Because they all seemed to just be not shooting at you. At once point you had like 3 or 4 guys on your screen (after your super) and just waltzed around and got them.
Good video though, Love watching some Crucible montage.

He was probably playing on Xbox ;p

A lot of his videos are like that--I always just assumed he is constantly somewhere the enemy does not expect.
AKA he's awesome.

But he was right there in a NARROW hallway with 4 people looking his direction. WTF I never get that lucky.
