The Gunsmith's Quest *SP* (Destiny)
First, I have no idea how I got this quest. No one else that I know got it, but I did. So yeah, sorry. I'm sure someone on the internet has figured it out, but I'm trying to be totally unspoiled.
Anyway, I was chatting with the gunsmith the other day and he casually told me he'd make me a custom weapon. I was like, WHAAA-? Okay... And thus began his quest.
Step 1: Get 75 kills with a sniper rifle while having a special weapon telemetry active. I tested, and both the old "sniper rifle telemetry" and the new "special weapon telemetry" both worked for this step. I was also able to double down by using the Armsday test weapons and complete both goals at once. It took me a while, but I got it.
Step 2: Talk to the gunsmith.
Step 3: Disassemble rare or legendary sniper rifles for weapon parts (you need 10). I thought this was going to take forever, and then I realized I had some old year 1 snipers I *never* used in my vault. BAM. Two max exp year 1 weapons net 12 weapon parts, so my problem was solved.
Step 4: Talk to the gunsmith.
Profit: Stillpiercer
It's like a hybrid of Patience and Time and Black Hammer. Legendary, but feels exotic, and I love it. Plus it looks sweet and it has a hunter insignia on the stock.

I just used Icebreaker for the sniper kills, sped things up a bit. You can even switch off of it to a regular sniper if there are a ton of special ammo packs around (something that might help the longer wait for ammo on Icebreaker).

In retrospect, I probably should have gone to the dreadnaught instead of doing this on the moon - finding 75 guys to kill on the moon is what took me so long, not finding ammo.

when you first enter the bunker there are two knights, a handful of acolytes, and then that near endless stream of thrall. After the thrall stop coming down the steps, just jump over the railing to your death. Respawn right outside the bunker and do it again, guardian!
I was able to get the 75 kills with a shotgun on my second run.
The Titan shotgun is really sweet if you like defender (which I do) Immobius: Kills inside a ward of dawn with armor of light do not cost ammo, plus bonus damage when 2 or more enemies are nearby. It's the defender titan's best friend next to Saint 14
I'm on step 3 right now :)

Rank 3 gets you an exotic primary quest, but the exotic is only at 280. For warlocks, it's Tlaloc, a scout rifle. Not a bad gun, but I don't like guns that aren't full auto.

Rank 3 gets you an exotic primary quest, but the exotic is only at 280. For warlocks, it's Tlaloc, a scout rifle. Not a bad gun, but I don't like guns that aren't full auto.
But... How is that possible? How do you rank him up besides doing his weapon bounties? I've only ever been able to do two sets of bounties from him... I'm not rank 2 yet.
Also, how often do his bounties reset?

I've actually gotten that once before. It was a fusion rifle. It took me forever to find out why I had picked up a legendary fusion rifle and it wasn't in my inventory ^_^

I've actually gotten that once before. It was a fusion rifle. It took me forever to find out why I had picked up a legendary fusion rifle and it wasn't in my inventory ^_^
I looked in my weapons as well and was disappointed at first that it wasn't there. Luckily, my fireteam knew what it was and told me to check the quest inventory.
