Or they don't understand that the grind to 290+ is just as rough as the grind to level 26(?).

No way man! I have only done quests, and I am at 289. This is miles better than having to do random activities with little guidance to get to 29.

Same here (though only 269), plus some Strikes. I even LIKE the new Cryptarch "meta", because at least there's some (some) strategy in the RNG decryption now.
