Hereafter, the new Black Hammer?

Hereafter is a new Exotic Sniper rifle, which has the Black Hammer white nail perk (Now Called Perfectionist). It also has Blinding Light, which blinds nearby enemies on precision kill.

Let's start with Blinding Light. The thing that's interesting, is that the effect lingers after an enemy has been killed. So enemies who walk near the body, even after the death, will still be blinded. It's very good!

Perfectionist works just like the old White Nail, except for the fact that the precision kills do not have to be in quick succession. You can take you time!

What's the catch? It's exotic for one, and there are four shots in the mag, so you need one more kill to activate the perk. The biggest drawback is that the gun seems to have less aim assist / bullet magnetism than Black Hammer. It's also on kill rather than hit. So no working bosses the same way.

It's a fantastic exotic so far, but not a replacement.

Surely the fact that they have to be kills, not just precision hits, makes it nowhere near as useful? Can't say I ever valued BH for killing small targets - it was always about constant boss damage.

You are right. I was testing it on lower level enemies. It is indeed on kill :-/

I was going to make a post about this today! I received a Hereafter from one of my Draksis engrams, and have been using it extensively. I was using Hawkmoon (because yay! Hawkmoon!), but I'm not much of a crucible guy, and it's not that interesting or fun for PvE (TLW with hipfire is way more fun).

As pointed out, it's on kill and not on hit, so it's not a replacement. But even Perfectionist is incredibly useful for mobs in the right situations. I did the Sunless Cell strike with it last night, and the part where you have to activate the switches on the two platforms was great with it. My teammates activated the switches while I just stood on the starting platform and picked things off with it.

However, it is still very good. It's signature perk is also really useful. Crouching increases zoom and stability under fire.

The two best features?

It is freaking SEXY!

And it sounds AMAZING! This video does not do it justice. With a set of headphones cranked up . . . oh my god. The first time I shot it I didn't even realize what the hell was happening. It sounds so good.

But I did get the Stillpeircer, from the Gunsmith Hunter Rank 2 quest. I LOVE it.. looks beautiful, handles great. Only drawback is the signature perk gives you enhanced tracker, which I always use on my nightstalker.

I think its more fair to call this the new Ice Breaker.

Its meant to be a practical, solid sniper rifle that can function well at killing non-bosses, extending longevity and simplifying the process.

Hammering a boss in the dome until he falls over, not so much.
