PS4 DBO Crew King's Fall Progress Part 2 (Destiny)

by Cody Miller @, Music of the Spheres - Never Forgot, Monday, September 21, 2015, 06:36 (3448 days ago)

We are on Oryx! It looks to be a pretty demanding fight so far. But before that:

1. Golgorath. After the maze is a big Ogre called Golgorath. He is in a circular arena, and spawns when you break a sphere of water hanging from the ceiling. He is extremely tough and cannot be killed normally before the enrage timer. He has a soft spot on his back that when shot, causes him to focus on the person who shot him for 20 seconds. When he does, he will ignore everybody else as long as that person is alive. He will fire fast moving orbs that will kill the person in his focus very quickly if not destroyed. If you let the 20 seconds lapse, he loses interest. While he is focusing on someone, his front opens up which allows you to do a lot of damage. But it's still not enough. There are six spheres of water hanging from the ceiling. Breaking one causes a pool to form, and when in the pool you get bonus damage against the boss. What you have to do, is have two people get his attention back and forth, leading him to face the pool of water that the other players are in. This way they can unload on him. You need to move from sphere to sphere, and aim him accordingly. Basically if you are pulling his attention, place the fireteam in the pool between you and him. Cursed thrall spawn below , and later in the fight Taken. You will need to use snipers or other high damage weapons, as even with the buff he has a ton of HP.

2. More jumping! You have the scale the side of the dreadnaught, but there are pistons on the wall that will fire and shoot you straight off. You just have to time them. There is a chest here too, if you explore a bit and find the hidden platforms with your ghost.

3. Oryx's daughters. This one was really tough to figure out. There are two deathsingers in the middle of a room, with plates in each corner. One begins a song with a minute timer. Someone will phase into an alternate dimension, and a relic will spawn in the air. When you step on a circle, it will spawn platforms in the alternate dimension, which the person can then jump on up to the relic. However, they must be spawned in ascending order, since there are sparks of light that must be collected as you ascend, and if not in the right order the sparks do not appear. You must collect every single spark before you can pick up the relic. It works out to start counter clockwise from the circle the relic is under. Once the person grabbing the relic has collected all the sparks and grabbed the relic, they will phase back in to normal space. Now, they must plant the relic under a deathsinger to make her vulnerable. If you attack the deathsinger that is currently singing the song, you will all immediately wipe if you don't kill her before the song is done. So, you must attack the one that isn't singing. The person who planted the relic has an aura that protects him from the song, and imparts it onto others when they stand close. Everybody has to bunch up so they can be protected when the song finishes. Now, the other deathsinger begins singing, and you repeat the process. Eventually, only one will be left, so you need to make sure you can kill her before her song finishes. Also, do not snare or debuff them in any way, since they will cover their face if you do, making critical hits impossible.

4. Oryx. We stopped here, but it's one hell of a fight.

Looking for a sub

Chaos cannot join us tomorrow unfortunately. Does anybody want to sub in? Preferably if you already gotten to Oryx, because I know it'd suck to just jump in at the final boss. Not sure if anybody else here is where we are.

I can hop on and help. My Warlock's at 292, and Hunter at 288. No idea about my Titan, but he's the lowest of the three for sure. Ideally I'd want to take my Warlock through first, but those two classes should be good.

Haven't touched the raid at all, but I'm not too concerned with chronological order or signing any Blind pledges. ;)

Oryx Discussion (Spoilers obv.)

by Cody Miller @, Music of the Spheres - Never Forgot, Monday, September 21, 2015, 06:44 (3448 days ago) @ Cody Miller

I noticed that the Ogres spawns are staggered. Front right, then front left, back left, then back right. Someone in the middle can snipe them as they come up to help take them out, since killing them quickly seems to be key.

The Ogres seem to emerge in the order that we step on the platforms. I noticed when I was in charge of the front-right platform. If we activated the front-left first, then my plate would be last. Every time this happened, my Ogre didn't emerge until I got on my plate.

This means we can potentially slow things down a little. Activate the first plate, focus fire on the first Ogre. Then activate the 2nd plate, etc.

Can confirm. Yes. They emerge from their pools just after you activate your plate. This means that we can, at the minimum, double-team every single one of them, maybe even triple team. I know they were a problem for Slycrel; also Cody & I were still working on finishing off our ogres by the time everyone was assembling to do the next thing. So, it would be good if we slowed it down just a touch & had the 5th man run around helping with the ogres so that each side can triple-team those suckers.

They do spawn in the same order as the platforms are opened, but cannot be controlled, they are timed. I could be wrong

Well, that's something that could be very easily tested. We should try waiting to jumping on the 3rd or 4th plate & see if the ogre comes up before we get on it. I pretty positive they spawn based upon when the plate is activated.

For the ogre. What do you do with the adds? Kill em all? When do they spawn? We never lasted more than 45 seconds against him.

During the Ogre battle, the adds spawn in waves. We stayed near the front of the platform and split into 2 groups to defend the right and left sides. Ignoring the Ogre, we used the pillars as cover from his attacks while we nailed the adds coming at us. There are a lot of them, but they're forced through a bottleneck on each side which makes them manageable. Once all the adds are cleared out, turn your attention to the boss for an attack round. Once your attack is over, more adds will spawn. Repeat.

Adds spawn whenever you fail to keep his gaze.

So, if you botch a gaze handoff, they will spawn.

Also, i think it is after 4 orbs have been broken, he will leave his back closed, which forces an add spawn.

XB1 crew had a good rhythm going last night, but we just couldn't get him down. We got him halfway once with no deaths, but he enraged. I guess we need better sniper rifles.

Yeah, the team down in the pit needs to be really on the ball with their DPS, especially during the first attack round. Each successive attack round throws more adds at you down in the pit, so you need to divide your attention more and more. But the first round has relatively few Thrall running around, so you need to take advantage and really lay in to him. We got him down to about 1/2 health during the first round last night. Even so, it ended up taking 3 or 4 rounds to bring him down.

Major Spoilers**

by TheeChaos @, Monday, September 21, 2015, 13:15 (3448 days ago) @ CruelLEGACEY

Ive been TRYING to finish him to day. Here is what I have found.

The Ogres do spawn in the in the same order as the platforms need to be activated. SO, have the one relic runner, 1 person for each platform, and a free agent, The free agents job should be to help kill the ogres in the order the spawn. The players on the platforms should also go in the spawning agent. So dont shoot the ogre closest to you, but the one that spawns on your side first. This will make killing them alot easier. After the ogres are down, head to the middle and get inside the aura, kill the Knight. The reason you have to kill the knight is so he cant start the Orbs from exploding.

Tip for Relic Hunter: Land on the platform first then wait for the person who is staying there to get up there, proceed to jump. After you get the relic head straight for the area that Oryx begins at, and keep spamming square, this will activate the Aura, and then beatline it back to the middle to save your people. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT ADDS. Your goal is to stay focused on the next movement.

After you do this, get together and hit oryx HARD. I noticed today when I was going with a group of 295+ players, we didnt have a problem with this until someone was dead. Last night we could not even do it once. This was probably a light level problem.

Once you stun him 4 people have to run and activate the 4 orbs left by the ogres, once you activate them run back to relic runner who still has the Aura, and DPS Oryx. The Relic runner just wants to try and keep in the middle so people can make it back to him faster, and sit still so people can stay in the aura. The relic runner can also DPS oryx while everyone else is running to the orbs.

After the orbs explode you can DPS him until he falls off.

This is where it gets fun.

After this you want run around, FAR from each other. Oryx is going to be raining hellfire down so you cant stop moving. Dont worry about adds just keep moving. If someone dies let them stay, this phase will end. After he stops firing, regroup and repeat the first process. He will sometimes stop at one podium and move to another. just be ready.

Thats as far as I have got. Weapons of Light does help.

I don't think it was a light level problem. I'm pretty sure I was the only one below the mid 290 somethings. If things went right with my ogre (sticking it in the face w/ a grenade, actually having heavy ammo, etc) I could kill it, but we would have trouble with the other ogre; I would draw aggro from it & die, or cody & I couldn't kill it fast enough (his was the LAST to spawn & therefore we had the least amount of time to kill his.

We just need to slow down a touch (but not too much because Oryx is aggroed on the relic hunter & we need to keep him moving). We need to take it slow enough so we can triple team those ogres with our 5th man, especially that last one.

I may be able to make it
