A bit disappointed with the Chaperone... (Destiny)

I've only used it in a single PvP match, but I feel like that makes me an expert in it already, so I have some concerns that I think should be addressed.

I always felt that the Universal Remote should have been a slug shotgun. Great at an extended range, but you would have to be accurate for that to count. Otherwise you'd be wasting shots. So when I saw that they were adding an actual slug shotgun to the game, I was pretty excited, as they are hands down the most fun type of shotgun to use, given the high risk/reward of the fact that you have to be perfectly on target to get a kill, but you can do so at a range farther than any other shotgun.

I thought the Chaperone would function much like the KSG in Black Ops 2 (this video does a great job differentiating it from all other shotguns, so I recommend giving it a listen/watch):

Unfortunately, the shotgun doesn't work in this way at all. It has slightly less range than the Party Crasher, but without any range perks. The Slug doesn't really feel or behave any differently from other shotguns, and has a damage falloff as drastic as any other shotgun.

The saving grace is the very high firing rate that you don't see in many shotguns that have this range (outside of Found Verdict and Invective). This will be useful in PvE, especially against groups (crits are easy to land thanks to the red-dot sight), but I wasn't too impressed with the performance in PvE. I found myself having to two-shot people at a range where my Felwinter would drop them dead, even with headshots.

How would I improve it?
Make it a headshot kill at greater range, lower the firing rate, greatly reduce base range, and add a damage multiplier to crits. The video describes the KSG as a short-range sniper, and that's what I'd love to see, a shotgun that's not a one-hit kill unless you're extremely close, or you land the headshot. If you can land consecutive headshots, then you really do deserve the free ammo. Otherwise, you're just better off using an Invective for the higher fire rate.
