Ace of Spades *Video*

Completed my Hunter's Gunsmith quest today, to earn the Ace of Spades. I think I'm in love :)

It's like Fatebringer, The Last Word, and Black Hammer all had a baby together.

• High impact hand cannon with Firefly? Check.
• Precision kills pull 1 bullet from reserve and put it straight into the mag? Check.
• Flips around like Last Word? Check!

The perks give you the choice of boosting the base stability or range, so you can easily taylor it to your playstyle. The default reload speed is slow (I'm not using any reload boosting perks in the video so you can get a sense of the base weapon), but watch what happens when I chain headshot kills. Every single crit kill pulls a round from reserve and dumps it into the chamber. So if you can chain crit kills, you'll go through your entire reserve before you need to reload.

Man, having your "magazine" size represent the # of non-crit shots before reload is AWESOME. I've been trying to decide which character to play with next, my Warlock or my Hunter. I had settled on my Warlock as he's been neglected, but gee, this sure is making me want to get this gun w/ my Hunter.

love mine. Almost doesnt feel "exotic" though. Granted its a great gun and I love the look and feel of it, I just feel this is too close to triple tap to be exotic. Not to mention you have to get kills instead of hits. It works great on Dreg and hive, but any yellow bars it just goes to waste on.

That being said.

I LOVE THIS GUN. I even roll with it in the crucible just to show it off.

Gunsmith exotics are all workhorses, once you get down to it. They're great to have, but they aren't nearly as obscene murder machines as some of their ancestors.

If you need something that works 90% of the time, though, they're wonderful killing tools.

So far, I'd say Ace of Spades beats any of the other exotic hand cannons for PvE. Even so, it's not quite as good as Fatebringer was in year 1. If we were still in year 1, Ace of Spades would have a difficult time justifying its exotic slot up against Ice Breaker or Gjallarhorn. But so far in year 2, we don't seem to have a single exotic that drastically out classes the others. I find myself swapping between exotics more often, since they're all situational. Compared to the other year 2 exotics, I'd say Ace of Spades holds it own, no problem :)

Ho. Lee. Crap.

I looked up the stats, and it seems I might actually be able to play TTK now, as I will have a reasonable TDYK replacement. The aim assist is a little lower, but it still matches Fatebringer on that, and I can't say I ever had trouble hitting things with Fatebringer.

I will miss Zen Moment, I think, and I don't care about Third Eye, but still. Overall I think this thing is very much my style. Specifically my Gunslinger's style.

Edit: And it has Truesight IS as default. I might be in love.

I was unclear about the class-specific exotics; can they only be equipped by their designated class, or could I use Ace of Spades on my Warlock (or Tlaloc on my Hunter)?

I've heard they can only be used by their designated class, but I haven't tried myself. I'll get back to you on that :)
