PSA: The Fabian Strategy is Broken *weapon spoilers* (Destiny)

So, I've been playing around with the Titan-exclusive Exotic The Fabian Strategy. It's a fairly decent weapon, with an Exotic perk that increases rate of fire, stability and handling when enemies are nearby.

There's been some talk of that perk not working properly, as there's no noticeable RoF increase. There's also a video going round you may have seen (from KakhisHD) showing that it does work, but the increase is almost unnoticeable. In the video he shows side by side footage of the weapon fired away from enemies vs near enemies, and the latter reloads first. Just. Barely. By a few frames.

This didn't seem right to me, as I know tgat model of AR fires 1 round every 3 Frames (10/sec). The only way for it to shoot faster would be if it went to 1 round every 2 frames, which you'd definitely notice. There's nothing to explain it emptying a whole magazine just 2-5 frames faster unless it's firing between frames (super unlikely) or has an unnatural firing pattern.

So I tested it. I counted the frames manually. I can confirm with 100% certainty that The Fabian Strategy fires at 3 frames per second even when surrounded by a number of enemies. The rate of fire increase doesn't work.

Tl;Dr - Fabian Strategy perk is broken, don't believe those who tell you otherwise.

Thanks for the info and testing!

I'm guessing that some frames got dropped when the original tester captured their footage, or when they were editing clips together.

Also, I've been out of TTK loop. Titan-exclusive weapon? What's limited to Titans, just obtaining the weapon, or actually equipping it? So many new things to keep track of, and it's difficult when you haven't actually seen any of it in action.

Minor spoilers, but.. you literally asked for it:

You get a quest for Banshee (weapon smith) with a gun reward that varies based on class. For titan, it's this gun.

Both obtaining and equipping the weapon are limited to the Titan. Similarly, the Warlock and Hunter each have at least two weapons that are class-exclusive.

Which make the Ace of Spades that much sweeter.

You get a awesome hand cannon which can fire 70ish shots without reloading and we get a Auto Rifle who's signature perk A) Doesn't Work and B) Even if it did is pretty lame. Why would we be jealous?

Technically our DpS is better

Even more so if the perk worked.

Technically, Necrochasm put out more DPS than Fatebringer, but we all know how that turned out ;p

Only if you could hit stuff with it. Boy did that gun suck. Good thing they buffed it just in time to become obselete :(
