dreadnaught patrol court of oryx area stuff. *minor SP* (Destiny)

Any experiences or anecdotes are welcome.

So, I've been messing around with the dreadnaught patrol in the court of oryx area. I've figured out (I think) how to get the relic to spawn, where it says "pulled from the void"

The internet says that this is used to open the chest that has poison around it. I think that is true, but I can't imagine that this is all starting this event is able to do. I can't imagine that bungie would put an event this complex for simply opening a chest that you can do any number of other ways without the orb.

So, I'm going to reiterate what I know, and if anyone has anything to add, please chime in.

- The rooms ready to spawn the orb have runes above the outside doors. On one of the sides there will be taken spawned.
- You can hear chanting outside
- Inside you will see acolytes kneeling with a tablet floating above their arms. I'm not sure how many there are, if it is the same each time or not. Usually I see two, but I think I've seen only one before. Note that you can kill the taken in the room without them moving if you stay close to the door to the outside.
- It seems hit and miss on how to get the relic to spawn. If the named wizard comes up then it seems all you have to do is kill everything. In the other cases I'm not certain. I -think- I got it to spawn by not killing any of the acolytes once, but I wasn't paying attention to which named guy spawned.
- This event seems to be able to happen at any of the 3 rooms that the super weapon in the story was destroyed at.
- Once you pick up the relic, you have roughly 2 minutes to do something with it. The statues near the court don't seem to do anything.

The fact that it only sometimes spawns makes me think that the different mini-events need to be completed in different ways.

The last time I did it, I did not pick up the relic, but went out to look around. I thought I saw a spark at the top of one of the passages, so I quickly went back to get the relic. (I can't confirm this, haven't seen it again, so it makes me wonder if I saw what I thought I saw) The timer starts when it spawns apparently, so I only had about 20 seconds left of the relic, and didn't get much of anywhere with it.

I am wondering if you make it back towards the outside of the ship if you can get across to the area where you fight oryx in the story. I don't know if there's enough time to get there, but that's the next thing I'm going to try.

Having a fireteam scout things would be helpful too. If someone sees me on and wants to look at this, let me know!

If you're just looking to get the chest? Use your sword to block the damage. Opening the chest is then easy :-)

Armor of light bubble works as well

I mean, the stink hole only works for the one thing. Why wouldn't this?

That is a possibility, but I can't help but agree with slycrel. It seems overly complex for opening a chest that is actually pretty easily opened without even doing the event.

Note that acolytes that are part of the event that are NOT killed will despawn after the taken are killed.

I tried going back to the starting area earlier, but since you can't pull out your ghost, I missed the bridge and dropped the orb. Doh!

There seem to be 3 kneeling acolytes in each location. I was unsuccessful in getting the orb for any of the bosses other than the wizard one. Pretty sure the boss you get is random-ish. I've never seen the same one in a row, but otherwise ordering seems random.

Lastly, the event will come back up even if you're carrying the orb (in another room). This suggests to me that there are actually 3 rituals... but again, I could be looking for things where there are none.

Try killing the final yellow bar dude with a super. I've had success 2/3 times with that. I've had it spawn in one of the side rooms and also the center/Court of Oryx room.

I can confirm that the relic prevents you from taking damage and allows you to open the chest in question. We just kept clearing worship rooms until the relic showed up. It also protects the rest of your fireteam near the relic guy.

Note: If you pick up the relic in the room furthest from the poison chest, you *barely* have enough time to get there and open it (as in, someone not spec'd into max agility probably won't make it at all). This leads me to believe there's another use for this particular relic, despite it behaving identically to the other two.
