King's Fall Final Boss [Video] (Destiny)
For those who would like to see it, here's a video of our PS4 group's successful battle with Oryx a couple days ago. This was our 2nd time defeating him, and it went quite smoothly.
If anyone has any questions about the battle, I'd be happy to try and answer them :)

To watch, or not to watch…
I’m traveling for work for the next two and a half weeks, so I won’t be able to even hop into the raid again for a long while. I figure by then most of my regular raiding crew will have played the encounter and figured out the mechanics, so staying blind for that long is kind of lame… Bah!
Nice
Wow. Looks like you folks have it down to a science now. I've always wanted to do the raiding in the game but the few times I've found random groups my experience has been horrible. At least I get to see the content though thanks to folks like you posting your videos.

Find a group here to run with you! My first raids were from joining groups here. Everyone I've played with has been very gracious in leading a first timer through, and it really is something that has to be experienced first hand, I think. I imagine people will be hitting King's Fall pretty heavily for the next good chunk of time to try and collect the gear (as will I!), but I am willing to bet there's quite a few that would still be happy to go back and do a Vault of Glass or Crota's End run. I know I would!

Do you have to detonate the blights at the same time?

Do you have to detonate the blights at the same time?
It appears to do more damage that way. The other thing to remember is that the detonations will kill any guardians not standing in the bubble. So if someone pops theirs early, they're likely going to kill the other players who are still in the process of setting off theirs.

*SP* tip
Note that to detonate the corrupted light you don't have to stand in the middle of the ball, just in it's aura. I usually step through the ball and stand near the ball instead if in it so I'm not going blind.
*SP* in addition to that
I was watching a few streams of Oryx fights. Apparently if you just count to 3 (at a normal speed) you can actually leave the orb BEFORE it says you activated it. there is a delay of sorts between when you ACTUALLY activate it, and the screen shows the text that you did. Most people I saw were back in the Relic holders Aura before the prompts were even showing.

Why did you run round and round and round that one time there?
King's Fall Final Boss [Video]
After he falls, you have to run because he is shooting these meteor like things at you. If you get hit you die, well most the time. I have survived a single hit from them, but then got hit by the boomers.

*SP*
At that point it's random -- you get to fight a shadow of oryx or you get to dodge aura explosions from oryx. If you run around, the auras won't get you.
If you're fighting the shadow oryx spawns a big darkness bubble just below his starting position, and he's right there at the edge. (note that touching this bubble insta-kills you) If he's going to do the aura bubble attack he will back up a little from there and raise his arms and wings. So if you're not sure, take a look at the middle and where he is will tell you what is about to happen.

King's Fall Final Boss [Video]
Yeah, if you're in the middle of the aura (stainding there) you'll die. If you're on the edge when it explodes it does about 1/3 of your life's worth of damage.
*SP*
Not random, actually. If his health is above 50%, you'll have to run around like idiots. If it's at or below 50% you'll get Shadow Oryx.
In an deal run you'll fight the Shadow twice and only deal with the aerial bombardment once.

Good to know, thanks!

Question
We gave up tonight, after being unable to stagger Oryx even with a group of all 296-99s. Is there a trick to it? It just seemed like even opening up with heavy, GG or snipers didn't seem to phase him at all.
Question
Weapons of Light Defender Titan really, really helped for us.

Question
We got him to the very last sliver, when he moves to the front, and wiped. We were all unloading on him with weapons of light, but we had one man down. One person out seems to be enough to not stagger most of the time.

Success!
We got him back to that stage and made sure we killed him until he was dead.
It's a good thing too, because I don't think Zero's controller would have survived one more toss across the room.

Success!
It has survived many, many tosses, 2 years of tosses even, much to my surprise.

Rock on! Congrats!

The trick is really just that everyone needs to be on point, ready, and hit him with all their shots as soon as he opens up. If even 1 person is caught in the middle of a reload or switching weapons, you won't do enough damage. Snipers are absolutely the way to go. Weapons if light helps too.

6 Touch of Malices with one bullet in the chamber out to do the trick in the future. Fun fact, it won't damage you in the aura of immortality!

Everyone in my group is around 38-40 shards, currently, so no ToM. We could do everything else right but just couldn't seem to get that stagger. I didn't think we were wasting time reloading, I mean I have just enough time to put a clip of Stilpiercer into him, but it just never seemed to have any effect. We did it probably 10 times before people had to quit.

Question
Heavy machine guns were the most effective in our run. You can keep up a steady stream of fire during the entire sequence and don't have to worry about reloading or missing due to screen shake. Just make sure you've reloaded before he opens his chest.
