For Khazgul: How Warframe Outdid Destiny Years Ago (Destiny)
I haven't actually read it yet, but seemed like a good thing to post here.

Thanks for thinking of me... but why?
I'm curious why you posted this for me, specifically?

I do agree that warframe has destiny beat in a very large number of aspects, from class diversity to color palette options to how weapons are acquired.
I especially love that you can steer your ship during load screens.
That being said, Destiny just has so much better player control, that with the advent of TTK I've found I don't play warframe at all anymore. Plus none of my buddies jumped over to Warframe when I was playing it.
We do make lots of "Rubedo" jokes though. I mean, WTF is rubedo and why do I need so much of it???

Because you had some pretty large threads in the past comparing the two. :)

Ahh yes
Curiously, I only heard about the game on this forum. And yet it really struck me that Destiny 1.0 felt, in hindsight, quite derivative and not in a good way.
Yet here we are in the bold new world of 2.0 and Destiny has truly come into its own. I'm so in love.

After all the blahblah about Warframe, I went to Youtube and searched for a Warframe Raid.
What I saw looked like garbage. Rolling like a pinball super fast through the entire map, bouncing off walls randomly, tons of random proximity markers everywhere, nothing made sense. It looked awful.
I put it to you guys to refer me to a video that makes Warframe actually look like anything even remotely worth playing.
I enjoyed Warframe. I'm glad I don't play it any more
That game made Destiny's grind feel like a picnic on a cool summer's day.

Didn't think so..

I definitely played it once

And it was a clumsy feeling bland experience. I deleted it laughing about how awful of an experience it was with my mate.

Warframe did a lot of things right. Fluid play (in theory), interesting abilities, varied playable characters, etc.
Unfortunately the gameplay was plagued by control issues, "endless" gametypes relied largely on "fake difficulty" and the grind could be hideous.
Warframe was a lot of fun to get into. Building and trying new weapons, learning how to use new Warframes and fighting cool bosses was great. Continuing to play Warframe became really tiring though. The late-game grind is pretty intense, and really not fun after you figure out what to do. I spent an awful lot of time standing in a corner pressing Triangle over and over. Warframe's endgame is essentially the Loot Cave.
I quit before the Raid came out so I can't talk about that.
I know this post sounds pretty negative, but I fully recommend you at least try Warframe. The first 20-30 hours are a lot of fun, and after that how much fun you have depends on how seriously you take it. My recommendation : Mess around with some of the playable characters, make some cool/weird/gross-looking guns, play some endgame content, then move on. Consumed that way it's a good experience (and free!). Just don't get caught up in the Collector mindset.

This
I had an absolute blast for about 40 hours of gameplay, then it dwindled down to repetition and boring grind. I feel like if I were any good at the market trade, I could juice out a few more hours of fun, but that's about it.
