About Crucible quests (Destiny)

So I've been very slowly working my way through the crucible quest line in the hopes of unlocking the weekly bounties before Iron Banner starts, and I've hit a bit of a brick wall. After the "win x matches in y playlist" portion of the quest, you move on to a series of quests that require you to score 6 kills with a specific primary weapon class AND win the match. Sounds simple, I know. But I'm finding it very frustrating.

Getting 6 kills with an auto rifle, I can handle. It's manageable. But when matchmaking just refuses to put me with teammates who know what they're doing, it's all for nothing. More than an hour playing this morning, and I made zero progress because of matchmaking. 3 times I got thrown on to a losing team mid-match.

I feel the crux of it is this: if a quest requires that it win games to progress, it should let me focus on winning. I've had plenty of games where I get matched with weak teammates, yet still pull off the win. But I need to be able to play the way I like to, which does not involve using an auto rifle. Instead, I feel like my effectiveness is hampered by being forced to use specific weapons. As tough as it was, I didn't mind the Last Word portion of the Chaperone quest because it was based purely on personal performance. Sure, there was a win bonus, but winning wasn't required.

Has anyone else run in to this? Am I way off on it being overly demanding? I'm sure I won't have as much trouble with the hand cannon/pulse rifle portions of the quest, but even still. It just seems to be player unfriendly.

I finished this quest on my hunter this past weekend. It took a very long time. Getting the kills was never the issue, winning was. The problem with winning was relying on teamates. I would always get my kills needed, switch to my preferred weapons, then play out the match. ONLY TO LOSE. I think between all of those weapon bounties I got maybe 2 wins while playing with randos. I isolated the issue, RANDOS. I couldnt get these bounties complete, because I was relying on OTHERS. SO, I asked myself, Chaos, how can you win, without relying on others. Then it dawned on me, RUMBLE!

Once I started playing rumble I flew through those bounties. And you only have to finish in the top 3 for it to count as a win.

My advice, play rumble, its super easy.

This weeks Weekly Bounties were easy enough, Ottermack and Argent were nice enough to help me go through them (you need some wins with a fireteam for some of them). After it was all said and done, I was able to cash in, and get my amazing.... SPLIT SHIFTER PRO. I was very upset, that a SPLIT SHIFTER PRO (with crappy rolls) is enough to be considered Unknown Rewards (Nightfall) quality.

After that let down, I am in no hurry to do this on my other characters. My biggest complaint with TTK is this Questline, and how its not shared between all characters. Its insanely long. If I had got a better drop from completing all the bounties, I might feel differently. But I didn't.

End Rant.

That's my plan once I get to the other weapons, but I'm not very good with Auto rifles. I'm not confident in my ability to place top 3 while using ARs. Still might give it a go, though. Thanks for the advice!

You can definitely do it. I know your skill, and it wont be a problem for you. The Summoner is the way to go on this one. Works like a charm if you still have one.

That's the minimum number of winning games you need to complete this questline across all 3 characters.

That's insane. Assuming you're perfect and win every game, and that an average game is 12 minutes, that means it will take you a minimum of 26 Hours. 26 Hours! TWENTY SIX. HOURS.

And if like most of us, you're less than perfect? Well...

That. Is. INSANE.

It's funny, the part that annoys me the most is the "win 5 elimination games". Holy crap. I sat down yesterday to finally do it (solo, since I'm giving up on my buddies helping me here) and I was actually surprised I was able to win 2/6 games that I played. But I fully agree that this quest is absurdly long.

I just don't think winning should be a requirement for any bounty or quest in the Crucible. As someone who has played (and still does) team sports my whole life, you realize winning is hardly ever in the hand of the individual. It's simply unfair to judge the merit of one player by the merit of the team.

I can't do this. Might be tougher than TLW

I have been playing for an hour and a half, and I can't get even 1 win with 6 auto rifle kills. I can get double digit assists every time, but I either can't get enough kills and we win, or I play the whole game more aggressive than I'd like to trying to get 6 kills to then lose as team.
