Wow. Well, this tells me we should be able to complete the raid in one evening with time leftover for other things. :)

It's not actually a hard raid if everyone is well versed in mechanics. You barely kill any enemies, and only die if you screw up the mechanics.

Compare this to the Confluxes or the abyss, or the gatekeeper, or the praetorians, or the deathsinger, where the difficulty is in playing the game, versus in this raid where the difficulty is in playing the META game.

I feel like King's Fall is similar to Vault of Glass in that the toughest parts to get through without any deaths are the traversal/jumping sections. I remember back during our first DBO Flawless Raider attempts, nothing would get our hearts racing like the jumping puzzle :)

At least now I know what your voice sounds like so you can't pull the old "Guardian Down" trick a second time! :-p

That does seem to be the case by and large.

I love jumping puzzles and have never not found them stupid easy. They are my favourite parts of the raid for sure. Love those things. I love jumping. I am jumping nearly constantly while playing the game.

Jumping is FANTASTIC.

The only real 'tricks' I know they used was sword climbing the piston section.

Yeah, I'm surprised a flawless run took that long. All the mechanics are timed, much like Crota. The only two reasons I can think of that would slow you down is deaths and over-planning.

I die all the time detonating the tainted ball of light. Last raid was much better tho'. :)

One trick I've started doing to help survive ball-detonation duty is to run past the orb so that you can use the pillar as cover while we wait for Cody's countdown. Breaking line of sight with the adds, even for a moment, seems to be enough to get them to lose interest and shift their focus to the shielded Guardians standing in the middle. You can then step in to your orb and run back without drawing too much fire.

Raid spoilers below:

My raid team and I believe that there's a mechanic at work here - the "bombs" go off a fixed time after the first one is triggered. If you're late triggering your bomb, you won't have enough time to return and you'll die. We do a quick countdown so that the 4 members of the platform team enter and leave their bombs at the same time ("Enter your bomb in 3-2-1-now"*). There's a black circle on the ground around each bomb to indicate the trigger distance. It takes about 4 seconds inside the circle to trigger the bombs.

If your team isn't doing enough damage to Oryx, it's likely that you're not getting all 4 bombs triggered each round. I think an ideal Oryx kill looks like this:

4 bombs -> Airstrike
4 bombs -> Airstrike
4 bombs -> Thunderdome
4 bombs -> Thunderdome
4 bombs -> Final kill

* If you're calling out the bomb detonation, make sure to allow for the slight travel difference between the front team and the back team. If you're on the short side, start the 3-2-1 countdown after you get to your bomb. If you're on the long side, start the countdown as you're running so you get to "now" just as you reach your bomb. This is why it's important to kill the ogres as soon as they spawn - you want the bombs relatively equidistant with no chance that a guardian will accidentally trigger them. We also think it's possible for the knight to trigger them, btw.

I second this - use that platform for cover (but don't trigger early). It's also a good time to reload while you're waiting there, and the ogres usually drop a heavy or special brick in the water. You don't need to be dead center with a white screen to trigger, stay in the circle but as far into cover as possible. If you've got a nightstalker on the team, he can toss an invisibility grenade as soon as Oryx staggers; this can help the platform team get to the bombs undisturbed.

Cody calls out the detonation times for our group, so it's usually not being too slow to detonate mine. I think it's usually the adds that get me. I'll have to see if I can't use the cover more. Also, it's good to know about the black circle. I knew you didn't have to be right in the orb, but I wasn't sure how far away you could be. I'll have to check that out on Tuesday night.

We also think it's possible for the knight to trigger them, btw.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the knight can trigger them, or at least make them go away when he touches them.

Not exactly. each bomb goes off ~10 seconds after it is triggered. The first bomb that goes off will kill everyone not in the Aura of Immortality, which is what you're seeing as "all of the bombs going off". If you time all bombs to go off at once, you're less likely to kill players, but you're more likely to have them all go off while the white shield is still up without the heart exposed. Setting the first bomb off a little earlier guarantees the heart is exposed for the later bombs if your people in the middle don't have good enough DPS to keep the chest cavity open.

If your team isn't doing enough damage to Oryx, it's likely that you're not getting all 4 bombs triggered each round. I think an ideal Oryx kill looks like this:

4 bombs -> Airstrike
4 bombs -> Airstrike

4 bombs -> Thunderdome

Ideal is actually:

4 bombs -> Airstrike
4 bombs -> Thunderdome
4 bombs -> Thunderdome
4 bombs -> Final Kill

Each set of 4 bombs does 25% of the boss' health if the heart is exposed when they all go off (which is why having your two non-bomb triggering people continue to DPS the boss during the bomb section is so important).

* If you're calling out the bomb detonation, make sure to allow for the slight travel difference between the front team and the back team. My team doesn't call out the bombs at all. We go as quickly as possible so we can maximize boss dps to keep his chest open for the bombs going off. It really does not matter if anyone dies when they do explode. You're either running like crazy during the Airstrike phase (we call it the "Marathon" phase) and fewer people means easier running), or you're waiting for the darkness zone to appear. For the darkness zone, the first guy will be inside before bombed people are rezzable, but that's it.

Jumping is FANTASTIC.

I used to speedrun Mario's "Lost Levels" for poops and giggles.
Mirror's Edge was my shpoop (I was in one of the top 20 Time Trials slots for a bit, IIRC).
I held the Dojo's Parkour record for my entire Moon Clan in Warframe (until they kicked me out for being gone longer than a week, those douches).
And in Destiny, back when I was doing Iron Banner as a harmless 22, the only way that I could help my team was by using jumps to disorient the enemy...

So yeah, jumping/platforming puzzles are my favorite thing to do, which makes this raid easily my favorite, even if it means that I have to spend a lot of time waiting for five other people to catch up. :P
