Would have loved to finish oryx but for some strange reason my console decided it had to update itself right then and there and it wasn't taking no for an answer. Waiting to see how soon I can get back on but you guys will probably have finished by the time I do.

I am in the console preview program but updates have always been optional and/or installed while I have the console off. Never had one that forced itself to be installed while I was in the middle of something before.

Granted, I didn't really participate in the Preview process even though I'm in the program, so it's totally understandable.

Post an update, as I've heard that it can cause problems when people try to launch The Taken King. I'm not sure if it's a rare occurrence or if it's pretty widespread.

I was just about to shut down and go to bed when I got an invite from Funkmon. I offered to drop if you could make it back, but we finished it surprisingly fast.

I was needing to kill Oryx withy titan, so it was good timing for me.

What were you guys using to stagger Oryx? I was hitting him with my 1000 Yard Stare. He seemed to stagger quicker this time than in previous attempts. Was it because everybody is a higher light level, or were you guys using something special?

It's probably coordination more than anything. I was using a 310 sniper, but IDK how much that stuff helped.

No worries. It took me a half hour to work through my required optional update and there was no need to force everybody to wait. I'll complete a section of the raid eventually. At least I finally got in.

I was using Touch of Malice; the bonus damage and autofire mean I can put about 25k-35k damage on him while in the aura and save my sniper ammo for Ogres and heavy ammo for the Shade.

Hunger Pangs. It's through Eris. You need nearly all calcified fragments to activate the final few steps.

Yep; 45 total fragments required to complete it (the locations of 47 have been discovered, so you can miss a couple). It's not bad; about half are just hidden on patrol, and most of the rest are in strikes, the raid, or the regicide story mission. There are 4 that drop from beating specific pairs of enemies in the Court, and 1 for each of the three tier 3 variations in the court (you must present the rune yourself).

Touch of Malice seems designed to make the last two phases of the new raid easier (the invulnerability aura means you can fire the double damage shots forever). I suspect we'll want a few in-hand for the heroic difficulty.

It definitely seems like a very situational weapon. But man, it's fun to use on Oryx when you have that shield.
