Edit: I tried equipping my other heavy weapons from the web page, and the thing doesn't even display there anymore (though my heavy slot has returned). On my phone, I can see a "classified" item but trying to view it returns "error" and I can't equip it. In the game, however, I have a glorious new weapon. It looks like the BFG and works like the Spartan Laser.

I hopped on and went straight to the daily PvP. I was very confused when I got killed by one. I thought that guy was some kind of secret Bungie insider.

Just got mine! Just pumped a load of moats of light into the thing to get it leveled. This thing does INSANE damage.

I got on this morning. Acquired mine. LOVE IT. Does massive damage, reasonable charge time, ricochet will probably be random, as you usually aim AT your target. I only had time to play for a bit, but im very excited. It was able to shoot one of the Agonarch Rune Taken in one shot.

I want to say yes, because its an ITEM you have in your inventory. HOWEVER, I am not sure how the second part of the mission is timed. Like, If you finish the Core today, can you go straight into the Strike, or will it pop up tomorrow? Or next week? All these questions..

If I recall the colour texts of missions (and the busted RSPN fusion rifles we turned into Banshee) correctly "Midnight EXIGENT" was the contingency plan for arming suitable partisans with advanced weaponry in case the Warminds lost the ability to act.

Would not surprise me in the slightest, in fact I would be a little surprised if that were NOT the case given the quest so far, which actually seemed rather "easy" for lack of a better word.

Massive PvE damage with predictable charge time to a boss who is unlikely to dodge.

Difficult to use in PvP because of charge time, no blast radius, and the need to be pinpoint accurate.

I like it. I like it a LOT.

I wanted to show you the vid Cody was referring to, but the B.net version is (finally) offline, apparently, and I can't find a local version. (Near the time when I knew I'd be switching over to Reach, I actively tried to get that Achievement, since it was the only Halo 3 one I didn't have. I finally got into a situation where it should have dropped... I blasted the hog, it blew up, the driver died... and the gunner just kept shooting me. :(

Such a ripoff.

The ricochet rounds are as useless as I expected, but it also does two high-impact sniper rounds worth of damage per shot, which can Crit, so I imagine this will make it very easy to drop the Warpriest, Slaughter Golgoroth, mince the Twins, and stagger Oryx.

It's taken a while to get past the feeling of what it could have been (you could say I already have some ideas on how to improve it), but for what it's worth, it's essentially more of a Heavy Sniper than anything else (and wasn't that what the Spartan Laser was, ultimately?).

I actually quite like it, but when you put it like that... I can fire 2 High Impact Sniper rounds just as fast.

I'd have to do some math (Yay!) to figure out exactly how they compare, and Light Levels make those calculations really awkward (would need both weapons at the same Atk, while at the same Light, against enemies with matching Light) but it doesn't sound all that worth it.

I guess it's nice for just having a Heavy sniper as well as a secondary one, if you're running a "Priority Target"/anti-personnel build.
