Update's up! (Destiny)

Bye bye shotgun sniping :-D

RIP Shot Package (AKA #Kornywasright)
Told you guys to invest in Rangefinder instead. ;)
Overall, this is a good change. As a shotgun fanatic, the lack of balance was still apparent... Buuuut since I use Rangefinder instead, I won't feel the hit. :P

RIP Shot Package (AKA #Kornywasright)
I'm mostly happy my Chaperone and Universal Remote are both that much better now.

I said on here in late 2014, then again before HoW dropped that shot package needed to be removed. Whether they read them here or not, yet another one of my suggestions comes to fruition :-p
i can't wait to once again wreck with fusion rifles in Iron Banner and Trials.

Shotguns
I think you take a shotgun approach to video game design. If you say enough things you are bound to be right eventually. :P
I (mostly) mean that as a joke Cody.

He specializes in contradicting himself, so he's always right, even when he's wrong.
He just likes to ignore every thing that proves him wrong. :P

Since you're the FR expert . . .
How is Telesto in PvP?
It's a lot of fun, and actually a great damage dealer in PvE. It just seems like it could be a big disadvantage in PvP if it doesn't kill upon landing the hit, and you have to wait for the projectiles to detonate.
But at the same time, those explosions might make it viable at a longer range, say where a normal FR wouldn't kill because of accuracy issues or damage drop off, but you might land enough of the sticky projectiles to get a kill.

Remember when we could have rangefinder AND shot package? Memories.

The range is only slightly better than some of the longer range legendaries. It's cool when you can get multi kills off one shot, but it is a PvE weapon. You have to charge, then wait for the needles to explode. It kills too slowly to be any good in PvP as a seriously used secondary.
You get slightly more range and AoE damage (and orb generation), in exchange for higher time to kill. Worth it in PvE, not PvP.

That's pretty much exactly what I figured. I'm terrible with Fusion Rifles, but I was curious.

It is really amusing though if you use Shadestep as a Nighstalker. Fire and roll.

That's somewhat effective, but you give up having your shadow shots become traps, which is crucial in PvP.

I do like that perk, but I'd rather have rolling, has saved my life many many times. If I really want that perk though I'll equip Graviton Forfeit. But for now I use Sealed Ahamkara Grasps because I love having dual Smoke.

Cody really likes us to know when he is right. I don't think he is getting enough validation. We should probably help out.
:D

No changes to Sunbreaker = Iron Hammer and Trials by Fire
I am seriously disappointed that the Sunbreaker's OPvP status was not even mentioned. Trials and IB will be a shitshow with glory going to whomever can field the most Sunbreakers.
No changes to Sunbreaker = Iron Hammer and Trials by Fire
The Sunbreaker has the loudest "tell" I know of. Golden Gun and Blade Dancer almost always required players to run away until the super expired. Is there something I don't understand about why people expect to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Sunbreaker?
I mean, running away from a super kind've sucks, but that has been the status quo and I don't really remember hearing any grumbling about it before.

Congrats on using a worse perk for a year.

The sunbreaker is in a different league, though.
I never run from bladedancers. I've got the shotgun+melee timing down pretty well. I'll often drop them, or trade kills at the very least.
And Golden Gunners, while deadly, are still vulnerable. A well placed grenade, surprise shotgun, or quick burst of coordinated team fire will bring them down.
A few days ago, I was hiding around a corner with my shotgun when an enemy Sunbreaker came around in front of me. I hit him point blank with a shotgun+melee, and again with a 2nd shotgun blast before he turned and crushed me. His health was still above 50%.

This ^
I emptied a full mag (Red Death) into a sunbreaker who had *no idea* where I was shooting him from. He just threw a hammer down every hallway and killed me while I was reloading... around the corner. Red Death kills normal people in 3-4 bursts.
Also, if I have a super up, I'm still better off running away from a sunbreaker. Blade dance is suicide against one, GG is suicide against one, shadowshot is going to work really well... except it takes longer to animate the bow being drawn back than it does for the hammer guy to throw and hit you, which means that unless I'm firing at the guy before he pops his super, I'm dead before I can shoot.
TL;DR: Sunbreakers who died to other people's supers, those people were already using their super before you popped yours AND they got lucky.
How exactly do the traps work?
Because tge tether already lies there and snares anyone who comes too close. What do the traps do that's different?

No changes to Sunbreaker = Iron Hammer and Trials by Fire
See, what Trials actually showed was that running away from Golden Gun isn't always the best strategy. A lot of the time it's better to stand your ground with your teammates, and teamshoot him. You will probably lose one guy, but you'll kill the GG. GG became much more difficult to use as Trials went on as people figured it out; you had to be much more strategic then in the early weekends.
Hammer of Sol doesn't have this weakness because of the extra health and health regent. There really don't seem to be any good options besides running away (which also barely works because the hammers deal AoE and appear to track) or attempting to use your own super, which is a 50/50 shot at best. I also expect we'll be seeing a disproportionate amount of Sunbreakers in Trials, which is why I'm going to level my Titan ASAP.
Is that a Hippo on those shells? *IMG*

Oh WOW. That brings me back.

Whats with all the dance references?
I know for yesterday's update it is probably because of the new emotes and they want to push the new microtransactions coming soon, but there are references going on in the lore too. Rasputin is mentioned as being a fan of ballet, and the Collectors Edition has an important feeling quote about "dancing in the flames" or something along those lines.
Then there are items like the Radiant Dance Machines
And dance comes up in the grimoire in a number of different contexts

Update's up!
I'm still not super happy about this because shotgun headshots are one of the most fun things in the game to me (especially on Fallen and Cabal) and this makes them not be relatively trivial for PvE any more, but I guess if it's really that broken....
They said they might reintroduce it later. Does anyone think there's any chance they'll put it back on the weapons that had it? (because I'm guessing no)
I don't get the choice of perks they're replacing it with either.

For Rasputin, he was made in Russia, which produced what's probably the best-known ballet (Swan Lake, with music by Tchaikovsky) and many of the most famous (and many would say best) ballet performers, so I think it's just characterizing him as Russian. Radiant Dance Machines seems like a straightforward name for glowy boots in a game that has dancing. (I'm still a little disappointed you don't charge them up by dancing.)
Since we're on the subject, the ship "Steel Atreus" has this description: "Some day we'll dance our little dance to the end... but not today. Not today." This seems kind of familiar, does anyone know if this is a quote or paraphrase or reference to anything? A search brought up this, which is intriguing.
