Nothing special here really, I would go in the following order:

1. Exotic engrams if you are shooting for certain arms

2. Claws of Ahamkara - Great for Crucible (Flame Shield, Extended Thunderstrike FTW)

3. An insurmountable Skullfort - Can't go wrong with this solid Titan Helmet. plus it has lights!

4. Legacy Heavy Weapon Engram - Better than Knucklehead Radar

5. Knucklehead Radar - A fine paperweight

With Iron Banner coming up I wanted to get my Ahamkara's Spine to a higher light level. Since I can equip stuff to be over 300, those glove engrams turned into 310 gloves that I could use to infuse.

I like that I don't feel forced to run the raid to hit max level. With this system you could just farm Three of Coins and hit it. Not that I don't like the raid, but it's just nice to have alternative routes.

If your Light is over 300 (i.e., 301+), do exotic engrams always drop at ✦310? Or is it a random chance to drop at 310, but some still show up at ✦290?

It's just a random chance from what I've been able to tell.

Spec Stoke the Forge and Cauterise. Anything that dies to a punch will heal you and fully recharge both melee charges.

Bonus points if you have armour with Increased Super or Grenade Energy from melees.

3 of coins is still your friend.

If my light is 300+ I've never not had a 3 of coins exotic drop not be 310. That's probably 5-6 exotics for me. Could be a lucky streak I guess tho.

If you PvP as a hunter, this is your friend, big time.

It serves its purpose, I Thnk that if it applied to ALL weapons, it would be worth it. The fact that it only works on Primary kind of kills it since alot of my go to primaries (messenger) have Third Eye.

I'll be using Red Death in IB and Trials, and I'm happy to have a Knucklehead Radar around for that.

Interesting, I've picked up probably 7-10 engrams from xur, never have they been 310. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. =)

I always spec over 300, I have gotten a handful of 310's, but more often they are 290.

Last weekend I got 4 STAGs in a row from helmet engrams. Two were 310, two were 290. I also got a 310 Knucklehead and a 310 Mask of the Third Man.

I already have Insurmountable Skullfort and the Claws so thought I'd try my luck with the gauntlet engrams. Decoded them both and they both turned to the Claws of Ahamkara. And to addinsult to injury the stats were terrible as well.

So I went to Xur and opened him up so ready to stock up on 3 of Coins. Then I saw the Heavy Engrams and I flipped my lid! I wanted three of coins so I got some of them and had enough for two Heavy Engrams! I was so stoked that I trotted my way back to the cryptarc. I must have been walking up the stairs when I just stopped because I remembered that the Heavy engrams were Year One... I then sat down and cried a little.

The only plus side to this is that I decrypted them and immediately sharded them which got my the heavy weapon component I needed for the Sleeper Quest.
