Star Wars Battlefront v Destiny (Destiny)
Over at The Verge, there is an opinion piece called "Star Wars Battlefront is the dad rock of video games". In it the writer gives his thoughts about - you guessed it - Starwars Battlefront. After a few paragraphs, he starts bringing up Destiny and things move along from there. It's vaguely about alot of things, but if I had to give a quick and dirty summery, its about complexity and simplicity in multiplayer games. All the same I think it's worth a look.

Nice read. the author makes alot of good points. Most of which is essentially the simplicity of the BETA. user friend menus, no crazy loadout system (yet). Sometimes its nice to kick back and enjoy a game, instead of working for hours on end for some gear.

if anything BF feels more like Halo than Destiny, which I guess isn't too far off. The simplicity is really nice, and shows off the beauty of the uncluttered FPS gameplay, at least in the 8v8. The 20v20 is chaos, but oddly not too ridiculous for how many people are in play. I think it helps that there is a lot going on in the BTB mode. Boss Units, different phases, power ups, role power ups (ships, heroes, vehicles), Objectives, etc.
Played it a few nights with some of the peeps around here, and other than the party system (which needs some serious work), it's really nice.
I'm really looking forward to this coming out, and to them balancing Walker Assault. In the 20 or so games of it I played the Rebels won twice, and the one time it was 12 v 5.

I keep seeing this complaint, but I personally never experience it. The Rebels did lose more, but I won while playing as the Rebels five times, and lost as the Empire twice. It's not as bad as people make it seem, if you're playing with competent people. The Rebels have to sacrifice personal survivability upgrades like shields or snipers, and instead use the Ion Shot. A small squad using Ion Shot can absolutely destroy a walker.
Twice I saw the Rebels win in Phase 2. Everyone was using Ion weapons, and the X-wing pilots were actually focusing on the Walkers, which doesn't happen often.
Also, it's not hard to win in phase three if someone competent is in the Snowspeeder. It's an automatic win basically, if they don't get shot down or crash.
Basically, I'm hoping it doesn't get changed too much. It SHOULD be harder to win as the Rebels, and I don't feel like it's that much more difficult as it is now.

Had a run Sunday with 3 friends where we won every single time in Phase 1. Seriously. 5+ games as Rebels.
PSA: Save your Orbital Bombardments for the Walkers. It's something like 75% of their health in one shot.
Another PSA: flank, flank, flank. When defending your SATCOM, flank the hell out of everything. Most times we had 8+ Y-Wings in Phase 1 because we were coordinating flanks.

That does seem a bit misbalanced. The Rebels shouldn't win at all! :p
