Xbone Auto Updates? (Destiny)

by Ragashingo ⌂, Official DBO Cryptarch, Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 22:15 (3569 days ago)

My Xbone sat around all day not updating Destiny. I think I have it set to go to sleep instead of turn all the way off and auto update but... it didn't do it. Maybe I've missed something? This is the same company that hides the volume controls down six levels of menus in the individual controller submenu, after all!

Did your Xbone autoupdate Destiny? How?! Why?! What is your secret?!

I don't think it ever does. You have to actually launch Destiny for it to update.

If I'm wrong, someone please tell me how to fix it.

Xbone Auto Updates?

Xbox One definitely auto-updates Destiny. I was in Europe when 2.0 was released and when I got home a week later (on TTK launch day), everything was updated and ready to go.

I don't know how immediate the update process is, though. I imagine the auto-updates happen late at night when the server load is typically lower, but I could be wrong about that.

As far as I know the auto update only applies to the system

As far as I know the auto update only applies to the system updates and not to updates for the games on that system. BUT you can set a game to update and then put the system to sleep and it will keep updating. Also you can buy a downloadable game online via the website and it will trigger the download on your system at home. So I dunno. Maybe there's a way to trigger the update via the website, too? I haven't found one though.

It's Just Weird.

I had to open Destiny 4 times this afternoon and each one said the servers were down.

At some point, when I backed out, Xbox popped up saying Destiny required an update. I downloaded it, and when it finished, it said it was stuck at 31%. But I was able to turn around and play it anyway. Few hours later when I turn on my Xbox, the Master Chief Collection shows as 100% updated--without me even touching it.

It's just stupid. Weird and stupid.
