Join In Progress (Ranting Edition) (Destiny)
This is really getting on my nerves. Im going into Iron Banner solo since no one else wants to do it and I want to finish a few bounties. 5 times in a row, 5, it sticks me in a game that I'm already losing. Not by a slim margin either, by like 6000 points. On top of that, twice it stuck me in a game I lost before I hit the battlefield. (Even got a loss token mid flight to the planet) I know its bound to happen occasionally, and I'm fine with that. But when I keep searching and keep getting put into these blowout games back to back, whats the god damn point of sticking around. /rant

You beat me to it. You also win at irony. Either way, well played!

So... you get a loss token as you're flying in... you KNOW your team lost by a huge margin... and you STILL quit back out to orbit?
There's your problem. If you stayed in, you'd get reshuffled teams, AND a fresh game, pretty much guaranteed.

+1
The matchmaking system works best if you just stay in matchmaking even after a bad game. It's supposed to notice you had a bad game and give you a better match next time.

Not totally guaranteed, though. I had a string of games a while back where I kept getting dropped into the wrong side of a blowout. I'd lose the match and the game would break up teams because the score was so lopsided. Then it would just drop me into the end of another blowout. Happened at least three games in a row. Still, your odds are definitely better if you stick around.

And it works.
When I was playing Iron Banner on Tuesday night with two others, we won quite a few games by a wide a margin, and we always got the message that it was breaking up the teams to find a better match.
New opponents guaranteed
Fresh game? Not at all.
The number of times I've joined a game losing by a wide margin, been broken up, then put into another game in progress.

And it works.

I'm on the other end of that spectrum, and I appreciate it. After Bungie digs around in the bottom of barrel for a bit, it usually finds people I can beat.

It's ok, Funkmon used it in response to one of my posts lol

My reply to CrazedOne probably wasn't clear to everyone, it'd be easy to miss the intent, so allow me to explain:
1. I actually care a great deal about the deficiencies in Destiny's Crucible Join In Progress system and rules. I've posted and discussed my issues about JIP at length at least twice around here. I agree with CrazedOne that it can do some pretty stupid things like join you into a game that ends before you get to play or joining you into an unbalanced unwinable game. So my saying who cares is, as Avateur noted, quite a large dose or irony on my part.
2. CrazedOne has dropped that exact image on me and others several times. I saw the opportunity to repay the favor. Given point 1, my post was very much meant as a joke and partially as a self deprecating one.
:)

Not necessarily a fresh game. Tuesday night I was playing with 1 other guy, we got dropped into a losing match, heavy had just dropped and so we got murdered. He was going to exit us out when we lost but I told him to hang on, it'll match us up against new opponents because we got smashed so badly. It did match us up with entirely new opponents, into another losing game that was already in progress. I almost posted a little rantrum about it, but I didn't really care enough to because I was just trying to finish out a bounty so it didn't really matter anyway.
Oh! In fact, I kind of like being dropped into a losing game as my first entry into matchmaking. Why? Iron Coins grant you 80% of a win when redeemed & when you're dropped into a losing game it's usually over much faster than 80% of a normal game, which you may win or lose. I just see it as a faster way for me to get my IB rep when that happens.
Totally Forgot!
Wednesday night we had a Fireteam of 6 and we got matched up against one opponent.
Just one guy. Versus 6 of us.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar? It seems weird to me that Join in progress is so efficient in throwing me in bad games, but couldn't give the poor dude even one ally even while matchmaking
Totally Forgot!
Maybe there was an opposite fireteam of five that the game was trying to match you against, but they cancelled out at the last minute?
Totally Forgot!
I thought that, but we weren't en route to the match or anything. We just sat at 7/12 for 10-15 seconds then I guess the game was like "yeah, that'll do".

And it works. Sometimes.
My fireteam and I lost 5 in a row last night to the same guys. The games were close (2000 points, give or take), so we kept thinking we could beat them, but it just wasn't happening. Both teams were playing hard, for sure, but damn.
Of note: Their team had 3 hammer bros, 2 stormtroopers, and 1 shadow shooter. Every game my team was far in the lead until supers came around, and then we fell behind and could never catch up. Nerf Hammer bros and cap orb drops for shadow shot + stormtroopers, please! The way those guys were chaining supers was disgusting. My team had 1 hammer bro and 5 hunters (4 golden gunners, and I was playing bladedancer), just for comparison.

It would be if I wasn't in the habit of going on losing streaks far longer than 5 games. I lost 11 in a row two nights ago. Iron medallions cap at 5, so losses beyond that are actually worthless.

Yeah, there's that too... and I hate it when that happens to me, but I don't care until about 7-8 losses, then I quit until the next day.
Join In Progress (Ranting Edition)
I would have been disappointed if someone hadn't replied with that!
Although I thought it would have been unreal to post it on me...

Well that one I didn't quit out, stuck around for the next match, and still got blown out of the water

Similar: 4 v 6 all night last night
My fireteam of 4 people kept getting matched against a team of 6 with zero players added over the course of the match. Happened 3 times in a row (new lobbies each time since we got absolutely blown out of the water in each game). Once we got a 5th person in our team, then a 6th was finally randomly added. Really frustrating.
