A little disappointed with raid content timing. (Destiny)

I like King's Fall raid. I like it a lot. I've completed it 5 times on my warlock. Making assumptions, next Tuesday will likely be #6.

I am still "gearing up". My light level, while certainly not bad, is hovering around 304-305. I can push it as high as 306, but with non-optimal gear. I have, for the most part, good, not great weapons. My highest heavy I've ever received is 300. My highest boots are 298. I'm waiting on RNG drops in the raid to improve those and don't expect there to be any other way. Not to mention that I've only had 3 primaries drop from the raid -- a hand cannon the first week and, this week, 2 pulse rifles, one on my warlock, one on my titan.

I feel that Bungie pushed out the raid a bit too soon. It was a serious sprint to make it to normal mode opening weekend. I felt like I pushed past some content a little faster than I wanted to to get there.

Now here we are in what feels like the same boat. When it was mentioned that they planned on releasing it on the 30th but bumped it up a week to the 23rd I was a bit speechless. It feels too fast.

Are people really running out of things to do already, that they have to accelerate the release schedule?

Maybe this is sour grapes -- I mean we are getting the new stuff early right? It really feels a little ungrateful that I'm even posting this.... But I'm not done with what I have now... and I play what seems like an awful lot. Am I missing something?

the super hardcore people want hardmode, and for the rest of us the timing comes right after iron banner leaves, maximising your opportunity to gear up before the next iron banner. Makes sense to me.

I feel your pain. Ever since the first initial run of King's Fall, I havent really done much that I didn't WANT to do. Sure, black spindle and sleeper simulant popped up, but I really wanted them. It was nice to get on and just do what I felt like doing. I was really excited to hear that Iron Banner and Trials were coming back, just not on the same weekend. I have drill this weekend (a whole different story), so it worked out for me that it got cancelled. I think they probably felt inclined to release something with the Trials being postponed. Also the Hard mode raid was already done. Im scouring the internet for the interview that I found, but basically Luke Smith said they built Hard mode Raid first, then normal from that.

The Sunday drive was nice was it lasted.

Am I missing something?

Yeah. Just because it's available doesn't mean you have to do it immediately.

I can understand wanting to do the standard Raid as soon as possible because of finding a team and avoiding spoilers. Is that pressure there for the Hard Mode Raid? It's certainly not for me.

I understand that some mechanics will be different, but I'm not sure it's enough to worry about be spoiled on anything personally.

This. I haven't raided yet at all. Better to enjoy what you are doing than rush forward into misery.

If the PS4 crew doesn't feel ready, then we can do hard mode at a later date when we feel good about it. So long as everybody stays in the dark about the hard mode changes, I am fine with postponing.

I wouldnt mind waiting to grind for gear. BUT, since there are really no spoilers, if we get a team I think it makes more sense to give it a go. Worst Case Scenerio we don't get anywhere. Best Case Scenario, we beat it. Most likely scenario, we beat some of it, and get some drops. Some 310-320 drops! So we skip grinding for 300-310 gear, and will leap forward a few levels.

I can probably attempt it, I'm sure it would be fine.

I'm starting to hit the "keeping up with the joneses" thing a little bit. So I may just chill and not worry about seeing everything all at once. I'm already doing that to a large degree -- I've still got to finish off the sleeper simulant questline, finish the hunger questline, get my exotic sword, etc, etc... So putting off the extra stuff isn't going to be a big deal. The raids are one of the funnest things, so I'm definitely looking forward to that and will try to be available sooner rather than later for it.

I may also be putting too much stock into hard mode, and how different it will be. I know we went for a good long while between the crota raid and king's fall. I'd hate to have hard mode released and then see nothing new raid-wise for 6+ months.

i'm not too worried about it. I'm gonna wait until the community gets the kinks worked out of hard mode, and get efficient at it, then I'll tag along whenever someone has an opening.

Yeah. Try being in the middle of crunch time at work and then vacation. That's bad raid timing. I'm actually kind of glad to hear people say they feel behind. I was feeling hopelessly left behind with my one raid.

This baffles me. I've been playing Taken King maybe for 5-7 hours a week these past few weeks. I don't feel behind at all.

I don't think Vortech has played at all for over a week, maybe 2.

If not longer. And that meant I also had no idea how others were progressing.
