Question about XBL and Destiny (Destiny)

by Oholiab @, Monday, October 19, 2015, 02:41 (3419 days ago)

Junior has a buddy who plays Destiny solely on an Xbone. He does not own the 360 version of the game.

We have two 360s for our families use. My question is: Can Junior's buddy come over, download his XBL profile to one of our 360s, and play as his own Destiny characters?

Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

I think that should work just fine

His profile should load up just fine. The only potential issue would be if he was licensed for TTK on his XB1 and your boxes weren't, but even in that case it would just limit his activities while he was on the 360.

There's also the issue with junior's friend griping about the 360 graphics nonstop and the peer pressure that creates. But I don't think that was what you're asking about. ;-)

On second thought...

...maybe I'll tell junior there's too many technical difficulties (:

It should work but he might not have access to all the content. There is an easy fix for that though, just log the primary account in on the same machine that he is playing on.

Forgive my ignorance and stupidity, but how exactly does that work?

We’ll assume that the friend is playing on your 360. I think what Blackt1g3r’s saying is that you'll sign in as ‘Oholiab’ first before having the friend pull his own account down. I don’t know if you’ll need a second controller to keep your account logged-in in the background, but I don’t think so. The idea is that the Destiny content is licensed to your account, so it needs to be active/present for the content to be playable.

I’m not sure that’s 100% necessary, though, especially if you’re running off the disc versions of the game. I’d try it with just his account first and see what happens.

Thank you both! I just came off looking like a brilliant and heroic father. Mythos intact.

Really it's a workaround for licensing issues that plague the 360. On the 360, the first xbox you download the content to is supposed to be licensed for all users. Unfortunately, since TTK came out it can be broken on some systems. This will let you work around the issue. :(
