Imprecation: Final step tips & Video (Destiny)

A few days back, I posted about the Last Curse exotic quest; specifically how ball-bustingly tough the final step appeared to be. Luckily, a few DBOers pointed out that the quest description is actually quite misleading. Using the God-awful Hand Cannon that banshee gives you, you need to must complete a few challenges. The most difficult of these tasks is using the HC to get 7precision kills in a single crucible match.

What makes it so challenging is that you must use a hand cannon with horrific range and accuracy, a slow rate of fire, and a 6-shot clip. At best it's a 3 shot kill, but you rarely have time to fire 3 bullets once you engage an enemy, and if you do you probably won't hit anything.

To complete this step of the quest, I found I needed to change the way I approach PvP. I jumped into the Rumble playlist, hoping I could take advantage of the inherent chaos and score a few ambush kills. I went in as a Bladedancer with Lucky Rasburry. My plan was based on always having a grenade at spawn, super-quick weapon switches only possible with a Bladedancer, and blinking around the map like a fool.

It worked!

Instead of relying on my Hand Cannon to complete skirmishes, I would lead with a grenade or blink in with a long rang Chaperone blast; not enough to kill my target, but hopefully enough to bring them down to "1-headshot" health. I'd then do a quick swap to my primary and try to finish them off. Overall, this tactic worked pretty well. Managed to complete the quest on my second attempt, and on a map that generally favors long-range combat no less!

Hope this is helpful for anyone stuck on this portion of the Imprecation quest!

Imprecation: A Truly Horrible Weapon

The fact tgat the quest almost requires you to either kill-steal, cheat, or at best do all the work with a different weapon makes me wonder what the purpose of that stage was. All it's done is made me less excited to use my new First Curse.

Sidearms?

After failing miserably with using the handcannon as normal, I'm considering using the IB sidearm to get two shots in, then fast switch to the HC for the kill.

Not a bad idea. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm not really sure what the thought process behind this quest was either. If the weapon you're forced to use wasn't so incredibly awful, I don't think it would be such a big deal.

Even though you don;t believe me..

I did really well with it and completed it in my first match. Of course it was 6 in the morning, so all the try-hards were fast asleep.

I like the First Curse. I think it could definitely use a range and/or target aquisition buff. The problem is its slow rate of fire, low range, low stability. Essentially you have to be relatively close, and this puts you in prime range for shotguns, pulse rifles, anything really. The last word is great because its short range, high RoF. Hawkmoon is great because Hawkmoon. Overall I will say this is probably the least viable option as far as Exotic Hand Cannons in PvP. I still like it and will use it, but unless some changes come, it wont ever be on the level of Hawkmoon or TLW. These are all initial reactions to my 15 mins of gameplay, we will see if that changes this afternoon while I do my Shaxx weekly.

I totally agree. The gun just isn't well designed. It hits hard, but not hard enough to 2-shot in PvP, so any 3-shot capable hand cannon will outperform it due to higher stability, range, target acquisition, bigger clip, etc. In PvE, it 1-shots the same things that every hand cannon 1-shots, and while it hits hard against bigger targets, you usually just pull out a shotgun or sniper rifle for those sorts of enemies. There's really no situation where you'll get a kill to activate the perk for more stability and then chain precision hits to get more bullets where Hung Jury won't completely outperform it.

Plus it locks out an exotic slot.

Despite having possibly the highest impact in the game for a hand cannon, the gun needs serious buffing.

Heh - when you picked up Heavies, I thought, "okay, good, he's denying it to the rest." And you used it to kill that first dude, which made total sense, because you were dead otherwise. But then you started shooting regular people with it, and I was yelling at the screen, "what are you doing, you still need three more headshot kills, and the leader's 5 kills from winning! PUT THAT THING DOWN!"

You pulled it off, though. :)

PUT THAT DOWN, NOW! *VID*
